I just saw the new brackets for football, is there any reason Loyla Prep isn't competing in the playoffs this year? Also ever 1a private school gets in to the playoffs?

Div. 1 has 10 teams, so they all make the play offs
Div. 2 has 17 teams, so all but 1 makes it
Div. 3 has 15 teams , so they all make it
Div. 4 has 30 teams

Div. 1 is the for the large schools (Rummel, St.Pauls, etc)

0-10 teams can still get the "Div I Playoff" patch for their letter jackets.

And none of the big boys or Winnfield have to play Curtis or Evangel so they've got a chance at a tainted trophy.

My son choked when I showed him the brackets. I wonder if any of the Div 1 coaches would look at it and instead of trying for 10-0, 9-1 and a top seed, just aim for the 4,5 or 6th seed because everyone is in and no use going all out until the playoffs.

It's absolutely ridiculous. If they're going to do this split BS why not combine a few of the divisions? Combine Division 1 and 2 at least. As much as I'd love my alma mater to win a state title, this would ring very hollow. A 10 team tournament is bullshite.

Money.....is why they won't. It looks like they are copying the TX system.

TX (UIL) makes more money from playoffs than it does for the regular season. 1-9 and 2-8 teams that are HORRIBLE make the playoffs.....

The private schools cried that they had to have equal divisions as the public schools.

So the pricate schools are the architects of the 10 team divisions.

HELLLLOOO

YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!!

What would they holdback for exactly? They don't play the 9 teams in the playoffs in the regular season. Districts stay the same until playoffs.

Actually a lot of districts are now private only. If the lhsaa was able to only group private schools, they did.

Seriously, the Division I private school playoff bracket reminds me of the 10th place ribbon that Gaylord Focker's parents enshrined at their house from "Meet the Fockers."

I guess we're all winners now

that's seriously not fair to a 5A public school who might be out if they go 5-5...

btw that D2 bracket is 16 teams. Ben Franklin doesn't compete for the playoffs, so every select school that is eligible gets it
