Framework of deal sending Joe Johnson from Atlanta to Brooklyn has been agreed to, two people familiar with details tell @CBSSports .

Couldn't they still make the trade around a package of Brooks and a resigned Lopez and Green?
Won't have the cap space, unless Dwight plans on signing for like 1 mil a year

My immediate thoughts-
1. Prokorov and Billy King are collecting some horrible goddamn contracts.
2. I don't think they learned anything from the MeloDrama, as they've now swept out almost all their supporting cast save Marshon Brooks.
A lineup of Deron - JJ - Wallace - Humphries? - Lopez is pretty good with Brooks coming off the bench as 6th man, but they'll have Tyshon Taylor and scrubs past that.
3. Atlanta found a sucker to take that godawful contract off their hands.
They better hope John Jenkins can bring a fraction of Johnson's production along with being a fraction of the price.
Now if only they could find an idiot to take Marvin Williams' deal, they could start a rebuild centered around Horford.
4. Dwight's fricked.
The Nets have NO cap space to spend on him and Orlando's not going to take any of those horrible goddamn contracts back for him.

I actually think they could, but the biggest piece is Orlando (or a third team) wanting Lopez and at a pretty significant new salary.

It's simple math. If Deron is there and JJ and Wallace, that is $50 million right there. Doesn't matter if they had five guys on the roster, it wouldn't happen

Deal contingent on Deron Williams committing to sign with Nets, one of the sources says.
Adrian Wojnarowski ?@WojYahooNBA
League source tells Y! that Joe Johnson deal now likely "happens with or without Deron." Nets officials are meeting with Williams right now.
one of them better be lying, and it better be Ken.

NBA and Yahoo saying JJ to Nets with or without Deron resigning
ESPN and AJC apparently saying they are waiting approval from Deron
Posted on 7/2/12 at 4:32 pm to izzy3010
well, I know to never trust the AJC, so seems like a good sign

Wouldn't surprise me if Deron said no to Brooklyn.
I don't see how the Nets without Howard is any more enticing than him going home to play for Dallas

DeShawn Stevenson sign-and-trade as part of Nets-Hawks Joe Johnson swap is 3 years, $6.9 M. Only 1st year ($2.3M) guaranteed.

Deron's deal would start at 17, Joe's around 19, and though we know the total compensation for Wallace is $40 mil/ 4 yrs, we don't know the breakdown on annual basis. they could get creative there.
at any rate, I think they still have Bird rights for Kris Humphries, along with Lopez, so they can put those guys in a package for Dwight (along with Brooks and future 1sts).
again, I think this s doable, not sure. I know there were certain guys they didn't wanna put in the Atlanta trade presumably to do other deals.

A person involved in talks debunks notion that Joe Johnson trade is tied to Deron Williams/Brooklyn. "No contingencies," the person says
fricking right, Ken Berger. Come on, Nets, get this done

Yeah but Nets sources "aka" their FO people say they have moved on from Dwight, so unless Orlando comes calling beginning, it won't happen

Why would you take yourself out of the running just to get Joe Johnson? Dwight has said he's either getting traded there or signing there next summer. What is Billy King doing???
Maybe he doesn't want Dwight

yeah, I didn't get all I wanted, but since 95% of what I wanted was Joe gone I'm still pretty happy
Posted on 7/2/12 at 4:36 pm to izzy3010
Magic need to make this a three teamer, give up Turk and DH and get back Lopez, Johnson and a pick or two.

Well if wants Joe Johnson over Dwight Howard then he's a moron, not that we didn't already know that.
