Just read Clemson did this after leading by 54 (to 0) at the half.

Probably. I know this is a different level and sport, but I ref high school soccer in Alabama. The teams can shorten the halves if it is agreed upon before the game starts.

They can also agree to running clock. Happened in a game last week.

As is should be. SC State was there for a check, and Clemson was there for an easy win. No need to force them to play a full 60 and risk injuries when it's a blowout

Oddly so, Arkansas/Texas St just agreed to a 10 minute 4th quarter due to a weather system coming in from Oklahoma.
