NCAA president Mark Emmert said at the Learfield Intercollegiate Athletics Forum, presented by the Sports Business Journal, on Wednesday that he "thought Penn State's season was spectacular."

The comments, according to ESPN, come just days after the Lions wrapped up a 10-2 regular season, won the Big Ten championship by beating Wisconsin 38-31 to increase its win total to 11, and then clinched a ticket to the Rose Bowl to play USC on Jan. 2 in Pasadena, Calif.

"What Coach [James] Franklin has done there is very, very impressive," Emmert continued, according to the outlet's Adam Rittenberg. "It's great for those young men and that fan base."

Per Rittenberg, Emmert "Adds that Penn State went through an "awful situation. But the football program is still Penn State."

He thinks the Big 10 champion had a spectacular season? Shocking.

Bigger news is that he would like to see an 8 team playoff.
