Aren't you a LSU fan? How thrilled are you going to be when Bama has a camp in N.O.? Or when Oklahoma, Ohio State, Florida, Texas, Michigan, USC or Oregon has one? Do you think you can guilt and threaten all of the top talent LSU wants to stay home and play for the Tigers?

They just reversed it to honor the intent of the original vote...w/o Pac rep going rogue...this really isn't a reversal...NCAA just learned two conferences voted incorrectly against the member's wishes.

Probably not. You can camp there as often as you'd like, but you're better off staying in the south if you're the SEC.

LA had 21 4-star or higher prospects according to 247 composite in 2016.
MI had 9.

LA had 13 in 2015. MI had 4.

Why set up camps in Michigan(as people have cried)???

Set them up in Ohio,Chicago, etc put them where talent of Big10 is, screw Nebraska, iowa, etc.

I had a feeling this was coming, Missouri hired a guy to start recruiting Chicago area(north Illinois), which was odd, because they barely hit Illinois, outside of the schools across the river from St.Louis.

SEC coaches must already have plans for their camps and the destinations for them.

It's going to be the wild west.

I brought up that specific example because that was the rumor a few weeks ago. Expect UGA to have camps in Atlanta, Valdosta area, south Florida, the Carolinas, etc. That's just using UGA as an example. Every SEC school will be all over the place.

Why now? They could have done this forever yet now it will be the wild west? I doubt it.

Harbaugh was talking about having 50 camps this year. You don't think other teams are going to try and follow that?

No amount of camps are going to make those schools any closer to home than LSU, so they'll always have that advantage, which is why I think the crying is ridiculous.

The schools that think they're affected by this are overreacting. If you're a top school in the SEC, you're competing for national talent anyways, even if they're in your backyard. Look at the offer lists for most signees - do you think a Michigan or Oregon satellite camp is really going to change anything for those players and schools?

This story gets pub because of Michigan and elite guys, but the real impact is felt by the "mid-majors" and mid to lower level recruits. This is a boon for them and the rule should never have been changed in the first place.

Let him. There is a give and take with all of this. It is hard to tell a kid he's your guy and #1 on your board when you've got 49 more camps scheduled and offers going out left and right. Let each school do what they feel is right, but don't punish the majority of college football because Harbaugh is upsetting the apple cart.

Great. My question to everyone who complains is this - why haven't they been doing this? This isn't a new rule, this could have been done forever.

If there is a significant advantage for major schools, then shame on them for not doing it sooner. I think this is completely overblown and has little to no impact on national powers. If you lose a kid because of a fricking satellite camp you've got bigger problems.

I imagine Missouri sets up shop in:

City in Georgia
City in Texas (already has roots there)
City in North Florida?

Because it was an unwritten rule in the SEC to be respectful of each other. SEC schools really don't need to hold a camp outside of the SEC to get 1 or 2 players. Other schools are just trying to build pipelines in SEC territory. Don't be gullible to think that some of these top rated kids aren't going to be influenced.

You'd think they were some kind of voodoo ritual where guys like Harbaugh whoop and holler enchantments to unsuspecting southerners and coerce them to attend UM.

Now that I've typed that, I can't say that would be beneath Harbaugh.

On a serious note, they're basically off-campus camps that are popular for big schools that aren't surrounded by immense talent, and more importantly, they're very useful for small schools and mid-majors that can put on a camp in Houston for 5-10 schools at a time. It also applies to an LSU camp that is attended by Tulane or Southern Miss, for example. Lifting the ban allows coaches to attend camps somewhere other than their campus.

Huh? No one in the SEC is respectful in regard to recruiting, and I'm an LSU fan. As an Alabama fan you know that as well.

I don't want Michigan in New Orleans, but I think the ban is bogus.

There was an actual rule in the SEC I believe that expires this year.
