14.5 million viewers watched the Game 1 in the WCF and ECF combined in 2017. 14.1 million viewers watched Game 1 in the WCF and ECF combined in 2016.

If it holds the pattern of being up 8% from last year, 21.902 million

Anything under the 20.28 from last year will be a disappointment

The ratings stats that support his position are facts. The ratings stats that contradict his position are bullshite.

the "ratings are up" arugement is such an idiotic one. First of all, you are replacing Oklahoma City and Toronto with San Antonio and Boston. Of course they should be higher.

if we replaced Boston with New York and San Antonio with the Lakers ratings would skyrocket but it doesn't mean it's good basketball or that fans are happy.

the question is, is this enough to keep the NBA swhere it is because the NBA has a problem right now that no other league in historyh has ever faced; it knows the results of every season for the next 5 years. drafts don't matter. trades don't matters. FA signings din't matters. regular season doesn't matter. playoffs don't matter. its really now just sinking in. none of it matters. warriors and cavs. oh you got the first pick of the draft, doesnt' matter warriors and cavs.

this is not good. for one the cavs an d the warriors can pretty much triple their prices on everything and you got to pay it. nose bleed seats are now 1,000 per seat. someone in america will pay it they have to if they want to see real basketball. on the other hand, every other teram has to slash prices on everything. what is the point of going to pay to see a team who has no chance to do anything. we're pushing for the playoffs so we can get beat by 40 points in every game by golden state! why would i pay 500 dollars of my hard earned money to care going to a strip club is a better investment at least i might get a blow job out of that.

remind me, was Oklahoma city involved in the highest rated cable televised basketball game ever in last year's WCF?

How is that a new problem for the NBA?

, look at all this parity:

We could also point out that we're stuck with a Kawhi-less SA squad that's hurting ratings quite a bit, but it is what it is.

Anything over last year's Game 1 number of 19.2M would be the highest Game 1 since 1998. 26.7M viewers for Game 1 in 1998 is the record.

A lot of the Game 1 numbers are going to depend on how hyped the matchup will be during the potential 8 days off we could have.

Very interested in seeing how it effects the ratings,

If the Warriors win tomorrow.

Golden State would only play in one game between May 23rd and June 3rd. They wouldn't have another road game unitl June 7th.

Me too. I think there is a chance it could be a dud if they're not careful. You can't let people forget about June 1st. You're probably looking at no basketball between Wednesday, May 24th, and Wednesday, May 31st.

Vengeance nailed the problem for loyal fans of NBA teams perfectly. No one will wish an injury on a player (which is the only thing that would change the results)

The fans of "one player vs the another player", are happy as a pig in shite. It enhances their favorite player's legacy simply making it to the Finals. They won't care about the subpar bball they played against to get there

Which side has significantly more fans? I'd wager the former over the latter

The difference is there were a lot of exciting playoff series leading up to the Finals. W/out doing research, in the West I can tell you the Mavs for instance, a franchise only 7 years old from inception, took the Lakers to Game 7 in the WCF in 1987.

Houston had Hakeem & couldn't count them out. Utah had Stockton, Malone, & the original Stifle Tower (Mark Eaton).

The Hawks & Pistons for sure were threats to Boston & CHI had MJ. No one expected it to be Lakers-Celtics pre-season, because there were 3-4 contenders easily in each conference.

Before this season, it was nearly unanimous we would have a GS-CLE matchup. That is the difference. If KD didn't bolt for GS, we would've wondered if OKC would overtake them this year, but KD robbed us of that adventure

Did you even watch the NFL playoffs this year?

Only three games were one score differential

In 2014, who predicted that the Warriors would become the next dominant team in the league?
