It was pretty bad, but I've seen much worse. I mean it's the playoffs, it's going to get chippy and cheap shots are going to happen. I think he should of gotten a 3 game suspension personally, but it's not like it was Ron Artest bad or robert Horry Steve Nash bad. JR is a thug and will be watched closely the rest of the way so he better play smart.

I do miss old school playoff basketball though, back when every hard foul wasn't reviewed to see if it was a flagrant. I miss when they wouldn't let anyone get a easy basket in the paint.

I'm pulling for a cavs vs. warriors final, I think it will be a fun matchup to watch.

I hope they both appeal and are allowed to play.

When was this time exactly? I hear people talk about it all the time, and often reference the 80s. Yet, when I look at the data, I see they shot free throws at a much higher rate, even after accounting for pace. They must have been calling a lot of fouls, and not all of them could have been those "hard" fouls. I'm beginning to think that like a lot of historical trends, the toughness of that time is overstated and is partially a result cognitive biases.

It's just a hip thing to say

"ohhhh back in the good old days that wouldn't have been a foul"

People like to throw that term around a lot in the NFL

"ohhhhh back in the good ole days the DE would have drop kicked the QB and nothing would have happened" blah blah

I guess it's like the old, "back in my day, I walked to school in the snow uphill, both ways." (may be a northerner thing though).

News flash: The NBA isn't a court of law. The function of the NBA is to maximize profits for the owners.

The best is how hypocritical the old folks are though. For example:

Watch a video of dick butkus putting a late hit on a QB. "Damn, did you see the mean streak in that guy? He pissed vinegar"

Watch a clip of a modern player putting a late hit "i cant stand the thugs in todays game"

Anyone else think JR Smith would loot a shoe store, if given the opportunity?

i bet if the NBA got as tough as the old school wanted it to be, they'd bitch about that "I want basketball, not UFC"
