Mario Lemieux is probably the only player that can rival Gretz as the greatest forward ever

From another site where stats were compiled from their head-to-head matchups:

Grettzky was 17-5-1 vs. Lemieux

Gretzky scored 15 goals and 56 points vs. 11 goals and 38 points for Super Mario.

Gretzky was +16 while Lemiuex was -13, and 14 of these games were after Gretzky left the Oilers.

Gretz.

I thought hockey was a team sport. Are these stats from one on one games?

So you're telling me Lemieux was better? Mario is great, but what's your point?

No he's telling you that Gretzky's team was obviously better on those nights, and I'd venture to say that if you swapped the two stars the outcomes likely wouldn't be much different.

Gretzky is the GOAT for sure, but Lemieux is much closer than some give him credit. Just couldn't stay healthy and his prime was in a different time.

Nope. That's why I mentioned the majority of Gretzky's games were after he left the Oilers. You do realize the Kings were shite aside from Gretz (Melrose as coach, lol). the Blues, and terrible Rangers teams. I'm not trying to discredit Lemieux, the greatest French Canadien ever (which is a great accomplishment) but please.

I'm not sure how well you read, as I said Gretzky is the GOAT, but again, it's closer than you want to admit.

I started to read your link and lost interest. Gretzky wasn't even a goal scorer, and scored 92 goals. Lemieux had shite teammates? Lol prime Jagr (a top 10 all time) says that's bullshite. Wayne basically played with Luc Robitaille and that's it when he left Edmonton. His second to last year, he had 90 points in 82 games. Washed up as frick, he had 62 points in 70 games in the worst goal scoring era in NHL history. If he would have retired a couple of years sooner, he would have averaged 2 points a game.

Can Gretzky really be the GOAT when he played in an era where there wasn't sports nutrition and everyone relied on the food pyramid for a balanced diet?

Obviously you didn't read the link... It stated that the teammates argument was a myth.

But if it wasn't teammates, what is your point?

I'd venture to guess that Gretzky is tGOAT by the widest margin for the 4 major sports, with Jordan being second.

MLB and NFL are cluster-fricks due to all of the various positions.

When you get into adjusted points, it's closer than the average hockey fan thinks, that's all I was saying. Gretzky is still the GOAT.

He played a half of a season in St.Louis

And that blues team was better than anyone in the East, they just lost to a redwings team with soon to be 11 or more Hall of famers on it.
