MLB and Facebook agree to stream one MLB game a week....NO blackouts

Not a bad deal here. Clearly won't be able to watch perhaps your favorite team every week, but allows you to catch perhaps an interesting game every single week for free.

sucks that Friday is like the one day a week I dont really watch baseball

MLB.TV already has a free game of the day, but it has blackout restrictions,
I wonder if the FB game will be different from the MLB free one.

I'm sure it will be the same. Yahoo has a free game every day and it's always the same as MLB's free game.

Is the NFL "desperate" for streaming Thursday night games on Amazon? Or is that just marketing your product?
Posted on 5/18/17 at 7:27 pm to StrongBackWeakMind
Just like any sale, they are trying to get ppl "in the door" to sample the product by giving something away, for free.
Most Americans have lost interest in baseball.

NFL showed games on Twitter, as well.

As stated above, I guess the NFL is desperate.

Yeah, I'm sorry, my basic misunderstanding was that MLB was getting no money from Facebook for this, but looks like I am wrong. Can't find a figure, but Amazon/NFL was $50 million.
P.S.: Baseball still blows.

I doubt they're giving it away for free.

I think it is very telling that no source I can find discloses how much MLB was paid for this deal, just that it was a deal.
Posted on 5/18/17 at 7:58 pm to texashorn
What's it tell you, oh wise one?
Posted on 5/18/17 at 8:01 pm to StrongBackWeakMind
That they didn't get very much for those rights.
Nowhere near $50 million, like the NFL did.

The deal is less than 12 hours old and you think it's "telling" that you can't find the numbers?
ETA: And as to what you think, you initially thought MLB gave away the games for free. So forgive me if I don't put much stock in what you think.
