Ultimately there's a big difference between partially funding an NFL stadium upgrade and completely building one for a baseball team.

Once the heat dies down from the MLB goat rodeo in a couple of years, the Dolphins stadium will get revisited and done.

I know that. People love the Dolphins, it's the only team that anyone has a connection to. I've lived here my whole life and I remember how angry people were after hearing how much money the Marlins had that they hid. At the time, the mayor Carlos Alvarez was the Marlins' biggest pushed. People were so pissed they set an election and had him recalled. For a city of apathy, that's a pretty big thing. People hate Ross and Ireland here too. They just love the franchise. But not enough to have more city workers put on furlough for a stadium.

Well, I come from a city who had that same mentality and thought there is no chance we would ever lose our team.

We was wrong.

Can you do me a huge favor and punch Omar Kelly in the face? Thanks.

If/when we have a winning season this year, I'm willing to give Jeff Ireland some leeway. He was pretty much Bill Parcells' parrot on his shoulder. When given the reigns, at least he was aggressive this offseason.

I think people are willing to lose the team. Don't really know how to explain it to others who aren't from here. But this city is in a bad state financially. Whatever happens, he isn't getting getting support anytime soon.

Even on the car ride home, people are already bitching about this.

I've been ready to do that for awhile

People here are just very skeptical of Dolphins management. I think people here would be ok with Ireland next year if all goes smoothly this season. But yeah, Mickey Arison is the most popular guy in town. All other sports owners are in the doghouse.

Well, he just unleashes Pat Riley, who I'm pretty sure is in the mafia, to sign all the top talent. Not a bad gig.

Hey Steve...Dolphins fan here.

Why don't you use some of that crazy discretionary spending on, you know...funding that stadium upgrade you were so adamant about.

His exact words were, "The Dolphins cannot afford it."

I am not a dolphins fan but live in South Florida and that could of paid half of the stadium renovations they wanted

No offense, but this is also a huge problem they have.

That's a fat donation. Phil Knight has got to be somewhere around 400-500 mil so far for Oregon athletics alone. I'm not sure how much He gifted to the law school,Knight library, and other academics.

He also donated 105 mil to Stanford.
