And btw, not that I think 12 would win by any means, but its things like that make it even harder to compare.
We see the names, and automatically think the prime version of those players, or at least I think most people do. Its much easier to see Kobe's current game v. his prime game because we're in that time, than it is to really think about what Bird or Magic's game was like in 92 v. their "highlight" packages.

Pretty much true. Bird was beat up bad by then. I know I lean on how tough and competitive those guys were back then but its true. If Durant was magically transformed back into that time Barkley, Malone, Bird, Pip etc would wear his soft arse out.

I think I'm just going to start ignoring you from now on brah.
If Kentucky plays a high school team, destroying them would mean winning by 50-60+.
With that being said, in order for Kentucky to destroy the Bobcats, they wouldn't need to win by 50+.
Of course the dream team beat their opponents by an average of 40 points. But I wouldn't expect them to beat the 2012 Olympic team by that margin either.
Context brah.

Pretty much. He was there because he and Magic helped build the NBA into a respectable nationwide league. There was no way that the greatest SF to ever take the court was going to miss the first Olympics that American pros were allowed to participate in.
As scary as the Dream Team was, can you imagine how scary the 88 team would have been if they allowed pros to go then as well?

I think, honestly that C, PF, and SG are wins for the 92 team straight up. I'll even give SF and PG to 2012

Fwiw ESPN accuscore says if they played 10,000 teams the Dream Team would 53% of the time by an average of one point. And remember that's this team as is with no Rose or Howard. That being said I have no idea how accuscore works nor can it possibly take into account things like Jordan's intangibles

I was only 5 years old when the '92 Olympic team played, and I STILL remember those games.

Not to be nit-picky, but Stockton was in his prime and is a top 3 pg of all time. Paul, Williams and Westbrook have never been better than Stockton. Plus Magic was still awesome, even with the layoff. I don't see how 2012 could have the advantage in PG's. When you think of the PG's in the league in 1992 that didn't make the team, it's a sick list. How about Kevin Johnson, Tim Hardaway, Michael Adams (look up his 90-91 season if you are unfamiliar), Mark Price, Mark Jackson, Isiah.. the league was stacked at that position, even more than it is now..
