Michael Irvin accused of rape

Ex-NFL star Michael Irvin has been accused of drugging and raping a woman in a Florida hotel last week. A 27-year-old Florida woman claims that she was at a bar with Irvin in the early hours of March 21 when they decided to go back to the former Cowboys star's hotel room at the W Fort Lauderdale. Shortly after arriving at the room, she began to feel sick and the last thing she remembered was trying to fight Irvin off, she told police.

The woman underwent a medical swab and blood test although the results have not yet been released. Police are now investigating the claims against the married father-of-four. Irvin, now an NFL commentator, strongly denies the allegations and insists he was only in the hotel room with the woman for 15 minutes with the woman - while another man was present - and says there was no sexual contact. 'The allegations are completely false,' Irvin's attorney, Larry Friedman, told TMZ. 'In the few hours since we've learned about them we've already discovered many red flags about this young woman's background and the allegations she made against Michael.

A lot of people will be which is very sad. Very unfortunate for actual rape victims.
False rape accusations should have same or even worse consequences as rape itself

not sure who his fall guy would be if the DNA reports don't come back in his favor. Obviously that doesn't mean she was raped by any stretch, but saying there was no sexual contact if there was wouldn't be the best look.

Yes. I say that b/c while the latter isn't as damaging as actual rape I believe that the plague of false rape allegations has created a situation where many rapists could get away with it which ultimately affects more women. And obviously it also ruins the lives of the men they accuse.
Some women may think there is no hope of getting a real conviction b/c everyone will doubt them nowadays. Others (particularly those who've been attacked by celebs or other wealthy people) will just be cast aside as money grubber. They deserve better than that.

I had a girl years ago accuse me of rape too.
I was approached and was forced to get defensive and adamant in my defense and stay focused on not slipping and not letting my accuser off the hook for lying.
I pressed my accuser and she finally relented and said she made it up. Happens ALL OF THE TIME.
In my situation, she so badly wanted me to freak her and when I didn't and took her home she decided to make it sound she was the one who didn't want me while I forced myself onto her.
I mean dang, she got that coochie played with and all the other good stuff...
Women can be mischievous and very convincing of their lies.
Ever since then I always give the accused the benefit of the doubt. Even those guys at the high school in Maryland. Prove it in court. If you are caught lying you pay the same penalty as the accused would.
My accuser was able to go Scot free with no retribution for her part.
System is freaked: every institution seems freaked these days.
