FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The media got a sneak peek of the new on-campus Colorado State University football stadium on Tuesday.

The $220 million stadium and adjacent $18 million academic space will seat 41,200 on game days.

Construction on the stadium began in May 2015. The new stadium replaces Hughes Stadium, which has been the Rams’ home since 1968.

The Ram’s will open the stadium Aug. 26 against Oregon State.

Place kicks arse. CSU the only spot I havent been in Colorado, in part because Hughes Stadium was so blah. Been to CU half dozen times, and AF for three. Might have to see this joint in person.

Hughes is the shitty one miles away from campus going toward Horsetooth Reservoir? I drove by recently and couldn't believe the location. That was a hell of a walk from around campus area

That's crazy that CSU can afford a $220 million dollar stadium.

I've seen it in person. It's nice for CSU. FoCo is a great town. One of the best town in the US for craft beer.

Meh...def better than Kansas, but all the other schools have done mass renovations in the past decade or so.

Maybe better than TT, wasn't impressed with that stadium.

I was in Ft Collins a few months ago and it was pretty sick and wasn't even finished yet. I was really impressed with the whole area around campus too. Made me kinda wish I went to CSU

It's definitely better than KU. It's on par or better than ISU, TT, TCU, KSU, BU, oSu, and WV. TT, oSu, and WV are just a bit bigger, not any nicer.

When you're not paying the players. Its easy to find a surplus of cash.

Only ones out of those I've been to (minus WV) is TT and ISU. Iowa State just did a major renovation and their new digs are nice, plus they now seat 60k plus - hard to believe i know for ISU.

I've never been to Stillwater but isn't their stadium considered to be top notch? The suites and press box stretching around the field make it look like a poor mans lambeau.

Never been to Baylor, KSU, or TCU's stadium but I know each of them just did major renovations or built a new stadium (baylor)

Should have put real grass on the field. It can't be that difficult if the Broncos make it work.

Sonny Lubick had some very good teams there. I've always thought Colorado St would have been a nice addition for the Big 12

I can see something like this closing the gap a tad with CU. That rivalry, while one sided historically, has been more competitive the last two decades (yes CU was down for awhile during that stretch). I remember watching that game from a bar in Seattle when LSU played there years ago. I will be watching that series with more interest now.
