Jesus Christ I've never seen someone so upset about a rival player going to win MVP.

He 100% should have been the MVP.
Try to comprehend what is being discussed.

You brought substance and an actual argument as to why Rodgers has been more impressive. Ryan is very much deserving of MVP based on stats alone and should get it, but he has also had it easier by a significant margin. Played worse defenses. Has a running game. Easy to see why many find Rodgers during the span of "Run the Table" more eye opening.

That and MVP is a season long award and not a 6 week award.

I'd argue that he brought substance to an argument about why it's just as impressive that Rodgers has been less impressive

My god falcon fans want everyone to suck Ryan's dick. If anyone has a different opinion then it's because everyone is a saints fan.

Didn't Atlanta have the toughest schedule in the league in opposing defenses faced?

For the 2016 season, yeah everyone should bow down to Matt Ryan.
I hate that Brees has been robbed of an MVP or two. Without a doubt, he is the most under appreciated QB of our time, and he is objectively one of the greatest QBs of all time. In my opinion, that is why Saints fans should better understand how Falcons fans feel about this season. Yeah, I get you hate your rival, but you at least get it (I would hope).
Hell, I think there is somewhat of a case to be made for Brees being second in the MVP race this year. Both Ryan and Brees each led the league in seven stats apiece on pro football reference. Ryan's were more rate based and Brees's were more frequency based (rate stats are better).
Brady and Rodgers each led the league in only one statistic out of 20 possible passing stats. Also, Sam Bradford led the league in one category.
At the end of the day, if you gave Matt Ryan's 2016 stats to Aaron Rodgers, then it would be the second-best season of Rodgers's career. It is only eclipsed by 2011 Rodgers, which has a case for the GOAT single season ever.

I think Ryan should win MVP. I want to make that clear. He put together a fantastic season. I have no problem with him winning it, regardless of Brees never getting the award.
That's not the argument I am making, though.

What a terrible article. Aaron Rodgers run actually began the week before (3 TD, 0 int; 115 rating). Obviously Atlanta had a bye week then, but the previous game just (must be coincidence) happened to be by far (78.7 rating, ~ 10 lower than next worst).
Now I get why he started on week 12, due to the bye, but since it was presented as beginning in week 12, it's a dishonest premise in the first place.
Furthermore, if he's going to cite stats, maybe he should highlight that Ryan played inferior competition, worse defenses, and 5 of the 7 games at home (a dome too; GB played half of 8 games away).
More specifically, Ryan played teams with a combined regular season record of 48-62-2 (43.8% wins) while compared to the 70-57 (55.1% wins) record of Rodger's opponents.
In addition, the team's Ryan played had a median passer rating of 92 (average of 90.3) while Rodger's played teams with a median passer rating of 85.4 (average of 88.5).
In other words, Ryan played inferior teams with inferior passing defenses and the majority of the games played at home in perfect conditions. While Ryan played far better teams with superior passing defenses and more away games. Even then, 5 of the 8 games (Chi & 4 in GB) were played on days with an average HIGH temperature of 26 (only one above 28).

Ever since Rodgers has said "run the table", Ryan has had a higher:
Completion percentage
YPA
Passer rating
QBR
Ryan is at least comparable (if not greater) during this stretch.

quote:Like I said, the author selectively chose week 12 as the starting point when Rodgers had a great game in week 11. And while Ryan had a bye in week 11 (not noted in article though), Ryan had his worst game the game before the selective choice to begin the comparison.

Furthermore, Ryan played far inferior opponents, far more games at home, and in far better playing conditions. In other words, if we could truly make their personal QB performances equal, and allow everything else to vary, the variables would lend itself to significantly better statistics in Ryan's case.

Look at the Barnwell article noting those stats. He shows that Rodgers gets an extra game.

Atlanta averages 120.5 yards per game on the ground. The Packers average 106.3 and have been decimated by injuries
Anyone Want to take a guess as to which QB contributes more to that rushing average?
Rodgers

wtf are you talking about? it explicitly states that it starts the week that the packers streak started which was week 12. This is not a random selection to favor Ryan, this is the obvious starting point

Yes it did. The entire "run the table" Aaron Rodgers thing started week 12, which is what the article explicitly states. That's what the article is comparing. Matt Ryan's run started week 1, why doesn't he use all the weeks?!?!??
