How is it possible for a team to score only one point!?

It's 7... whatever you're looking at it is an error.
But yes, Maryland does have 3 turnovers in the first quarter.

If a team tries an extra point, it is blocked, and the defense gets tackled in the endzone with the blocked ball, then the team kicking the XP gets one point due to a safety.

I don't think this is accurate

isn't this how you lost to that Division III school

It is technically possible to only have one point in college football, though the circumstances are incredibly rare.
It can only happen during a 2 pt conversion where the team that just gave up a TD can manage a safety on the scoring team in their endzone 98 yards away. In that case it is a 1 point safety. The score would be 6-1 in that case.

A safety on a two point conversion is worth one point.

Yes I understand. But like he said, it'll have to be 98 yards in the other direction to have a 1 point score. The other safety on a blocked PAT would yield 7 for the kicking team.

It is almost accurate. The defending team would have to possess the ball in the field of play and retreat into the endzone and get a safety. Then the kicking team would get a 1 point safety to be up 7-0

So snap goes over QB's head and a shite storm of failing to get the ball happens and the offense ends up getting tackled in their endzone

Here, let me try to look up that info for you.
ETA:
It's called a conversion safety, and it occurs during an extra point or 2pt conversion try.
In the event of a safety, by either the offense or the defense, only one point is allocated.
It has happened twice for the offense in college football. 2004 Texas vs Texas A&M and the 2013 Fiesta Bowl with Oregon vs Kansas State.
In both games the PAT kick was blocked, recovered by the defense, and then fumbled or thrown back into the end zone.
For it to happen on defense, the kicking team would have to retreat all the way back to their own end zone and then fumble the ball out of it or be tackled in it. While such a conversion safety has never been scored by the defense, it is the only possible way in which a team could finish with a single point in an American football game.

bingo
also, it means the only scores that are not theoretically possible in an NCAA game are 0-1, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1, and 7-1
Note the defensive 1 point safety only exists in college, I'm not sure if the offensive 1 point safety can happen in the NFL (though I don't believe it can either)
