What is the cause of coaches burning out? It seems to happen everywhere- a guy has been at a school for a long time and the product all the sudden gets worse and worse. Why do burnouts happen so much?

Complacency. They get too comfortable where they are and do their job half assed. Once they've reached the top, maybe some(not all) coaches lose a little bit of that fire.

Complacency? No, that's not the issue here. The issue here is Mack Brown was never that good of a coach. Brown had success by having a transcendent player in VY and playing in a weak conference by SEC standards. And, Mack's recruiting was good but he never developed the talent he had.

The talent he had was getting developed well until 2010. Then the wheels fell off. Texas had a solid run under Mack. It wasn't just Vince Young. But it seems like Brown and Deloss don't care about wins anymore. They just care about making money

Saw this on 247 and thought it fits perfectly to Mack Brown led team:

Texas is that guy who goes to prison thinking he's all hard and tough and "gangsta" but he's really a poser wannabe.

BYU is that guy that is pretty tough and hardened by prison but isn't at the top of the prison food chain. He can dominate the fresh fish but is subservient to the Mexican Mafia, Black Gorrilla Gang, and Aryan Nation. He sees fresh fish Texas come in and makes him his bitch before the real hard arses can jump on Texas.

Ole Miss is that punk arse bitch who is a pu$$y but once he sees Texas get raped all of a sudden gets all brave and tough to bully Texas until a real boss is around.

We're the prison bitch of college football now and everyone knows they can punk us because we're 100% bitch made

The funny thing is longhorn fans would complain for years about Greg Davis, and mack finally let him go. The texas offense hasn't been the same without him. Maybe Davis was a shitty play caller but he knew how to develop qbs and coach up the offensive players
