john riggins to reporter, on the redskins bonus for winning the title: "i'd run over my own mother for that money"

alzado, when asked about riggins' comment: "i'd run over his mother, too" ...

people have no idea of how vibrant and interesting the nfl was back in the day ... those were characters ... riggins and alzado weren't trying to get commercial endorsements ...

I saw Riggins more than once holding himself upright by a doorframe in PJ Skidoos in Fairfax the night before a Redskins game. He'd go out the next day and run over people.

Also watched Lyle Alzado A Football Life tonight? It was awesome....Alzado was such a complicated interesting guy....would make an incredible movie but nobody could play him correctly.

Also, I can't understand why Alzado and Canseco are viewed upon so poorly...especially now. They were literally the only guys telling the truth and had the balls to talk about it. Both should be in each respected HOF as contributors, shouldn't even be a question if your goal is to accurately document your sport.

How is taking steroids worse than what lawernce Taylor has done? Seems like football was more fun in the 80s

Yes one of my favorite football life's.

well, I mean LT only was a way better player than the tortured soul lyle alzado.

and he didn't juice. He just used coke.

Those stories are so hilarious about LT in college at UNC terrorizing the campus bar scene every time he went out. He's a bad man!

Alzado told this story about being in the locker room before a big game, maybe a super bowl. So Al davis comes in and looks around and says Just Win Baby. Alzado looks around and Howie long and everyone had tears in their eyes, and he knew they'd win that day.

Then the reporter asked Howie Long about it and he was like what????...Al Davis was never in locker room before a game. When he found out it was from Alzado he laughed.

Why don't we have a separate HOF for the knownroid heads? Laron Landry would be a first ballot lock.
