The Lions are clearly the best baseball team in the state. It's been a miserable sports year for Tiger Fans thus far. Time to hop on the bandwagon and support the Lions as they look to continue their 13 game win streak this weekend in route to their eventual Omaha destination.

Lion Up Baws.

tWas early in the season. They got a win over Tennessee and also smacked Tulane around earlier as well. Something LSU couldn't do last night

I put absolutely zero stock into midweek games win or lose. That being said, it'll be a lonnnnng season for us lsu baseball faithful. I can understand having a rebuilding year because we lost so much. As long as this doesn't turn into a trend next year with our play i'm content.

Damn, didn't realize that SLU had won 13 in a row.

SLU is probably playing the best baseball in the state right now, but I'm not sure they will finish that way.

Speaking of the Lions, anyone know why the weekend series with ULL is split up? Friday night in Lafayette and then Saturday/Sunday in Hammond?

They beat teams midweek at their shitty poorly lit field and get beat on the road. Happens every year. They are pretty good but if you put LSU's weekend staff against them they won't fare so well.

I won't jump to the extreme that they are the best team in the state, but they are smacking the ball around right now (not that putting 18 up on Southern means anything) and pitching is lights out. And the weekend that you are referring to, they were leading in the 9th against ECU before they blew the lead. They have 3 9th inning blown saves this season, closing is their big weakness.

They do have a winning record against the RPI top 100 right now, which is big for a SLC team.

I'm not trying to mock Southeastern in any way. I'm actually pulling for them to have a great season. Just pointing out that LSU losing two SEC weekends in a row does not make every one in Louisiana on a equal playing field. Incarnate Word would fit right in with LSU's preseason schedule that they steam roll through every year.

I like following Southeastern's progress. They usually finish with good wins and a good record but so far this year is going like most seasons go for the Lions. Good record but a 67th ranked RPI.

Now, it's still really early but Southeastern's RPI will be fun to track for the rest of the year.

They're solid, but this is inaccurate

We will learn a lot about SLU between April 5-April 20 with 9 games against RPI top 55 teams (3 against NWST and ULL then mid-week games against Tulane, USA, and LSU). They have already beaten Tulane and USA this season. If they can get out of this 7-2, or at worse 6-3, then I will be really optimistic about the rest of the season.
