the browns pass interference wouldn't bother me so much if not for the constant holding in the secondary that only a few teams get away with
seattle and carolina being the most obvious...Sherman may be the best corner in the league, IDK...he is always holding defenders.

49ers fans are bitching about a team complaining?

You can't mention a New England based team and not expect him to chime in.

harbaugh and his players are pretty much the standard when it comes to whining. Harbaugh takes the cake because he finds a way to complain about officiating in the offseason.

Every coach whines about the officiating. Saint Payton's a whiner too.
Harbaugh is really only unique by his emphatic losing of his marbles and literal foaming at the mouth. On the calls he complains about, he is usually correct to have a gripe.

Well to be fair, the call in the Saints game, although the correct one, was a tough call to take in for anyone that's not a Saints fan.
It's why you saw so many non-Saints fans and even former offensive players saying it was a bad call. It was exactly the right call, but a rule that people have a problem with when enforced in certain ways.
It's very different from complaining about numerous calls in a game or missed calls that are legitimate.

It seems as if teams get certain reputations for being good at something, and then because of that they get the benefit of the doubt from refs.
Makes you wonder why more teams have not adopted the knock every receiver around every play mentality.

Yesterday's game was a good battle them.

He's getting the Revis treatment. Darrell Revis would hold people down the field and never get called for it.

You have to build a reputation. Once you become 'that lockdown corner', you get away with a lot more. that's a true fact in the past 5 years

And not always 100% necessary. If you watched the Panthers-Saints game last night, a mediocre collection of DBs was allowed to hold WRs/TEs at will with little punishment.
It has a little to do with being known as a lock-down DB, but has more to do with simply being ridiculously physical from the get-go and forcing the refs to allow it. If the refs simply call it immediately as a penalty like they should, then this would stop. Instead they get caught up in the "let them play, we don't want to clutter up the game" mentality.

After the Saints played the Seachicks, I have a lot less respect for them. They celebrate every stop like they just won the superbowl and then get asshurt if anybody celebrates on them. Graham did his touchdown dunk and a couple guys got in his face. Bunch of bitches.

i'm glad we have finally found something Saints fans and 49er fans can agree on.
Posted on 12/9/13 at 1:49 pm to Geauxgurt
yeah, it is pretty randomly enforced. Of course the NFL is consistent in their practice of treating organizations, teams, owners, coaches, etc differently

My God there is a lot of whining in this thread. God forbid a teams plays physical football and pushes the limits. There's a reason the Seahawks almost lead the league in penalties. It's the style of football that they play. You take the good with the bad. It allows them to play physical, but it also comes back to bite them like it did yesterday with a lot of dumb penalties at crucial times.

that's all fine and good, but if that's how you want to play then you don't get to complain about the calls when you lose especially when if anything there should have been more flags not less.

Yeah I don't agree with what he said. I also don't agree with people being angry about the Seahawks style of play.

Replay of any Sherman play: "And Sherman had his man locked down right there." While I'm thinking to myself...holy shite he's beating the frick out of the WR 12 yards down the field.
This.
Because they are known around the league as a sick defense, the refs think the guy is playing great coverage.
They are a great D, but the secondary gets away with a ton of shite.

I actually like sherman as a player. I just think a lot of these 'shut down corners' get away with a lot more holding and PI than your average corner because of their reputation

I have 0 problem with physical play from DBs if that's what refs want to go back to calling, but they don't allow it for most teams
