Lifetime ban

Should mlb give violators of drug policy a lifetime ban? Seems like this could be the only thing to work. You can suspend them for however many games, but they have money so that doesn't bother them, and then you have people like melky, braun, and A Rod that will continue to do it. Make an example of this dirt bag Braun

It oughtta just be legal, like the NFL.

current system
First positive test result: 50 game suspension
Second positive test result: 100 game suspension
Third positive test result: lifetime ban from MLB
I think it should be
first offense 1 season.
second offense gone.

Not using drugs is very easy. Let's treat the players like adults who know how to not cheat.

first offense 162 game ban, second lifetime ban
but I'd still be ok with a first time offense being a lifetime ban

Money isn't everything. These guys' lives revolve around this sport. It kills them to miss any time away from it.

Continue? How do you know? Have they said they will continue?

Melky signed an enormous contract after he got caught....Think he cares as long as he's getting money....That's a joke. A Rod has been doing it forever...And now he's suddenly hurt again. That's a joke....Teach these bums a lesson. Our sport is bigger than cheaters. Pete Rose was banned for betting, lifetime ban. These jacklegs get a slap on the wrist.

Braun got off on a technicality last year and got caught again. A Roid admitting to using in Texas and got caught again

They should stone them and the tar and feather them and then let them get eaten alive by wild pigs.

lulz. Braun is sitting out the rest of this season with his team sucking and him being injured. Next season all of his guaranteed money kicks in. So basically MLB didn't do anything to him. It will continue.

Should apply to all sports, if there is a desire to truly stop the behavior, which I'm not sure there really is.

I would be fine with this if they had an "accident clause."
I know that sounds likely to be abused, but there are some NFL cases where the athlete made a legitimate mistake as to the contents of the supplement. IE more than one athlete didn't know that a certain chemical compound was banned, and that this OTC supplement had that compound. I think those guys should get a pass from the lifetime ban, and probably get a parking ticket type of suspension (you did it, even on accident, still a penalty). Let me add those NFL cases weren't examples of "willful blindness" either.
But ya, for someone who definitely juiced, I think its more than fair to ban them for life after the first offense, as you say, they are adults, they don't need to be coddled.

And reinstating Pete Rose should be in the HOF....

They blasted a hole in any future arguments as to 'credibility' of the witnesses. By braun not fighting it and saying 'yea i did it' he bolstered MLB's witnesses going forward.
I think the one year ban for first, lifetime for second is the best option, along with teddy's clause for accidental ingestion, I don't want it to become like the olympics where someone is kicked out for markers that show up in rogaine.

And Braun is a lying piece of shite...he needs to be gone now. If Goodell was running Major League Baseball and Braun had made him look that bad and drug him through the mud, he'd be fricking gone.

1st offense: No penalty
2nd offense: No penalty
3rd offense: No Penalty
Etc etc
Let them juice

Should they? Sure.
Can they? No.
This is one of the many problems with overly strong player's unions; any serious attempt at a lifetime ban would be overturned as part of the appeal process within the CBA; the best they will be able to manage are effectively-life bans like ARoid is likely to get--- not because they're going to throw the book at him, but because he is 37 years old and broken down.
