A lot of misconceptions abt fairness and who (Select/NonSelect) gets better end of deal after the vote for splitting State Titles at end of season. These are the real numbers, look at them and let's hear what you think. NonSelect (Public) Select (Private/Magnet/Charter)
Total Schools in LHSAA - 390. 274 NonSelect. 116 Select
Total Football schools - 293. 218 NonSelect. 75 Select
Total Baseball/Basketball - 390. 273 NonSelect. 117 Select
In regards to winning a State Championship in Football
218 schools 5 Titles = 1 in 43 NonSelect
75 schools 4 Titles = 1 in 18 Select
In regards to winning State Championship in Baseball/ Basketball
273 schools 7 Titles = 1 in 39 NonSelect
117 schools 5 Titles = 1 in 23 Select
****The Baseball/Basketball slightly skewed due to Some smaller schools not having Baseball and taking into account All Girl schools. Don't have official list of all schools these are the numbers posted on LHSAA website.
****Going by Kenramsey Power Rankings Boys Basketball 375 schools Baseball 338.
Before giving my opinion on this information I would like for you to look at it and give yours.

Interesting numbers. It's too emotional at this point for a large number of people on both sides to be objective. It's going to take a long time, if ever, for the relationships to be fixed.

What's a shame is that people are losing friends over this.

After reading through the other 2 threads, it is very evident that the Select posters seemed to think that they were being kicked out of the LHSAA but by these numbers it looks like they got a pretty good deal.
They talk abt leaving the LHSAA and forming their own Association but why?? Everything they say they want is in this Association, they can play all the "Good" Publics they want in regular season and then get to play all the Privates is the Playoffs. (If they leave LHSAA,they say all Privates going with them, but LHSAA member schools won't be able to play them.)
Let's just say every Select school in the State leaves LHSAA and they take another 20 that's 95 teams in Football, divide that by 4 classes it's 23 teams per class. Staying in LHSAA is better option.
Truth be told Selects don't want to have to play Notre Dame, Calvary, Evangel, STM, St Charles, Parkview Baptist, Teurlings, Univ Lab, when they have once in a Decade team that is really good and they meet one of these teams in 2nd/3rd Rd. No different than why NonSelects voted for split in first place, they don't want to play them either.

What if a private school submitted this proposal?

We will play you during the regular season. But we want our own playoffs because publics just aren't good enough to beat us so we will give you your own trophy to play for.

Would that have carried at 56%?

And the non selects need to reform under a new constitution as well. The LHSAA has proven to be incapable of serving its membership.

Amendments and Proposals can be presented and voted on at LHSAA Jan Convention. They can present it and see if what happens?

I love how you're trying to position this as the LHSAA is doing the selects a favor.. It's laughable and the whole system will suffer because the mistakes of those trusted with ensuring the entirety of the system is sound and fair.. The results will undoubtedly end in a disolved association and the birth of another..

I know

But reading it as I wrote it is insulting to the publics, that is my point. They are diminishing themselves in the interest of "fairness"

I predict the status quo will remain, next June after the baseball playoffs end there will be an announcement that the privates are leaving the LHSAA. The Legislature will step in and mandate state funded school athletics will be regulated by BESE and the LHSAA will dissolve. The public principals will have lost their ability to self govern and BESE will make a mess out of it.

The publics will have shite in their own mess kit. You don't disrupt an association, you tweak it. Once you disrupt it, the law of unintended consequences will always kick in.

I just don't understand why Selects are mad and want to leave? They are getting everything now that they say they want to leave for?
If it was really abt competition, divide Football in 5 classes. At end of season take Top 8 teams by Power Ranking in the state from any class and make a Super Bracket Champion. Once those teams are removed, seed 5 Classes and they play for Class Championships, Top 8 play for State Champion.
Do it for all sports.

Dude you're late to the party
There were numerous compromises that could have worked. They were all tabled or voted down. The majority want to punish the minority by segregating them. That is not how an association is supposed to work. So why stay in a system that is "separate but equal?"

Do you have a link or list of the compromises?

ETA: Who is being "punished" as a result of this recent vote, and how are they being "punished"?

there are dozens of advocate articles over the last four years detailing all of the meetings and motions. Hell go back to the 90s archives and read all about ECA and RCS and the first time the split came up under King Tommy Henry. This sentiment has been festering for over 20 years.

Segregating the privates for the playoffs is punishment for perceived success. It certainly isn't a "reward"

When the publics cry about privates having an advantage they aren't talking about Loyola or Menard or Ascenion Christian are they?
