Top 10

1. Barbe
2. Destrehan
3. Brother Martin
4. Jesuit
5. New Iberia
6. Ruston
7. Zachary
8. Sulphur
9. St. Paul
10. Sam Houston

Who have you seen play out of this group? From what I've heard, any of these teams have a shot to win it all. Some have played each other already.

Destrehan looked very impressive each time I saw them.

I would put St Paul above Zachary. I'm not really impressed with Zachary this year.

I've only seen SH once and they looked weak. Obviously I must have caught them on a bad night.

It's hard to get a gauge on teams if you catch them after the 2nd game in a tournament. It's all who's hot by the end of April anyway. Barbe is always going to be there. Level of their own.

Sulphur beat Barbe 1-0, and the sophomore lefty they have has given up 1 earned run this season, if I'm not mistaken.

Barbe is definitely beatable this year.

also it's a shame Justin Williams wasted his senior year on a crappy Terrebonne team...

Biggest problem with LA baseball. Single elimination in baseball is the dumbest idea ever. At least make it 2-3. First weekend 8 sites with 4 teams, double elimination. Then each weekend best 2-3 series. Playoffs would take 1 month and you'd have a true champion.

Two teams in the top 20 from North LA. Is baseball that bad up there? Looks like West Monroe and Captain Shreve are the only competitive teams after Ruston. Shreve's district is a joke so Im not so sure about them. Only beaten two 5A teams with a winning record.

I thought 5A was moving to 3 game series? Maybe not.

West Monroe's Dylan Burdeaux has only played 6 games due to injury. He's due back soon, maybe tonight vs Ruston. He's a Southern Miss signee so he'll be a huge addition.

Eta: WM has won 8 of last 9.

Everyone of those teams is beatable. None of them are really elite as far as separating themselves.. Barbe probably is the best team in the state but they are beatable too.

That's next year not this one. It's the same old single game format this year.

I have seen Holy Cross play Destrehan twice (lost both), Brother Martin (lost), Jesuit (lost) and Zachary (win). IMO, Brother Martin and Destrehan are the two strongest. BM shortstop, a JR LSU commit, is hitting the hell out of the ball...leads the local area in HR.

You right JJ27. How cool would it be to have a mini-regional/mini-superregional type playoff in high school baseball. Would be a lot more enjoyable for everyone involved.
