Letting Vegas Decide Playoff Rankings?

With all this talk about perceived playoff ranking injustice, would getting Vegas involved be a positive solution?
Per RJ Bell, three teams not currently in the top 4 would be favored over FSU in a playoff game.
Baylor -4
Mich St -3
Miss State -2.5
Do you guys think there could be a way to let an association of Vegas bookmakers rank playoff teams? Or is the opportunity for corruption too great?

No it's a stupid idea. Vegas doesn't penalize talented teams for losses

Vegas was built by the stupidity of the public... Not the genius of Vegas

Vegas only cares about one thing and that's making money. They couldn't give less of a frick if the "right" teams get in.
Awful idea.
Awful idea.

With a month to get healthy, FSU would arse ram Michigan State.

This.

In 2010, Bama would have been the 1 seed in the playoffs at 9-3 and ranked 16.

No yeah this would be a terrible idea.

I'm in favor of at least some Vegas input. Vegas doesn't care about when you lost. They do care about how talented the team is, what injuries you have, and whether they could win the game.
It all depends on the goal. If it's is to get the "best" teams in CFB, Vegas is a great resource. If you want the most "deserving", maybe not.
Either way, I think there should be clearly defined guidelines. Things like win your conference, P5 games, FCS opponents, etc.

Florida State wouldn't "arse ram" anyone in the Top 25. They should have lost to Notre Dame, Louisville, Clemson, Boston College, Florida and Miami. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be in the playoffs, but saying they would arse ram a top 10 team is pretty retarded if you have watched them play one single game this year.

I don't think Michigan State is that good at all.
Yes, Florida State plays a lot of close games. But with a month to prepare, I think they'll be an entirely different team come playoff time.

quote:No it isnt. Bama is not always favored because Vegas thinks they are the "best" team. They are favored because Vegas tries to predict where the money will go and what the outcome would be. If you changed Bamas name to Auburn and kept the exact same players and coaches, Vegas would treat them differently because they know their perception and money following has changed.

Vegas doesn't even care if you lost.

Not really. This is more or less nullified by big smart money sharks. If the line is wrong, they will hammer it until it is right. People who do this for a living don't give a shite what the name on the helmet is. If they see profit, they will exploit it until Vegas shuts it down.
Vegas is usually a pretty good indicator of what the most knowledgable people predict.

I also don't understand why people say Florida State should have lost any game. They had an unusual amount of close games but they shouldn't have lost any of them. Its not like any of the games their fate was out of their hands. That could be said about Alabama when they fumbled against LSU and got lucky that the clock worked out perfectly and LSU had a dumb personal foul/out of bounds kick.
The Notre Dame game for example was close, but FSU put their trust in the defense to get a stop. They ran conservative plays and punted. Its not like Notre Dame missed a FG or something. Same for the other games to my recollection. Hell Bama beat Arkansas by a missed extra point

No. All they care about is what the actual line should be and what it is. If those don't match, they bet on the side where it should be. Vegas eventually adjusts it down. The thing is that the stupid money on one side stops betting at some point even though they like the line. Sharks will not stop betting if they like the line. They treat it like a business, not a gamble.

So that 10-2 Bama is in the playoffs every year?
