Lebron v. Kobe - How does anyone still pick Kobe?

this is not a thread to discuss Michael Jordan (in comparison to either player)
reading the "top 15 of all time" thread i saw a few people rank kobe over lebrno.
i can't believe anybody except the biggest kobe dickriders could justify this. what do you use to justify this ranking?
if you use team stats (like titles), do you think lebron would have somehow been worse for teh lakers if he had the best frontcourt in the NBA?

Robert Horry. Bill Russell.

Because of "killer instinct" and "clutchness" and all the other lazy cliches.

Kobe was a far better closer, and closing counts for a lot. If I were an owner, I'd prefer Lebron in his prime. If I want to win a championship, for now I'd want Kobe in his prime. That can still change.

Mamba no joke.
But yeah, LeBron is better.

It's pretty simple. I think Kobe is the second greatest player in the history of the game behind only MJ.
His career accomplishments, both team and individual, help back this up.. The longevity of his career played at an elite level.. The intangibles. Kobe isn't going to light up a stat sheet like LeBron, but he just has IT. He is the most determined, hardest working player of all time.
He's a fricking winner.

"it", as in alienating his superior teammate in a power struggle, keeping the team from a title for years?
or "it" as in throwing a pity party when his team wasn't super elite and demanding a trade?

He's a fricking winner.
as long as his team is elite around him

You sure it wasn't just theunknownknight, and some other resident laker fan like AlexLSU?

Do people forget how difficult it was for opposing teams to handle the Odom/Bynum/Gasol rotations?

"IT" as in frick you, I'm going to take over this game and win. IT as in losing is not a fricking option. IT as in I'm not going to start a super best friends club because I can't win.

Were they really the best in 2008? Sounds debatable.

That's not me. But what a great, relevant point that helped further the discussion.
