Eh, they were mostly saying he couldn't guard LeBron.

I've seen threads were Bird was described as a glorified Kyle Korver, a role player who would barely make a roster in today's NBA. Not a top 5 or top 10 player of all time.

forget stats for a minute - especially since Jordan took time off in his prime to play baseball

everyone wants to compare LBJ vs MJ

do you know why MJ is the GOAT...the will to win, period

LBJ will go down as top 5 player of all time yes, but he is NO Michael Jordan

Can you quantify this "will." How do you know who had more or less will? Did MJ show a lot of will to win when he decided to play minor league baseball?

How old are you? You obviously did not get to see MJ play except on youtube. It is well documented by coaches, teammates, opponenets, etc.

And if you want to bring up him going play baseball, It was his Father's wish for him to play baseball. His Father died, so he attempted to play baseball for his father. Pretty simple.

Oh and when he returned, what happened? Oh no big deal, just 3 straight championships

He had a will to quit because his father was murdered and he was a degenerate gambler.

No I don't think so.

Jordan wanted to win above everything else. His teammates feared him, other teams hated him. Jordan is the Goat because of his achievements in the NBA. His record, rings, MVP speak for themselves. His impact on global basketball and Nike speak for themselves.

Lebron could end up being the GOAT NBA player, but he has a lot of catching up to do. But globally I don't think he has a chance at being who MJ was/is.

That may be because he's too nice, and doesn't quite have the killer instinct that MJ had. He has one, because we see it when he takes games over and no one can stop him, I just don't personally believe it is as strong as MJ's was. MJ's was so strong, that people hated him. The only person who hates Lebron is Joakim Noah.

I know he had the will to win, so does LeBron. That's why the both adapted their games and turned weaknesses into strengths.

How though, can you say that MJ had more will than LeBron? Was he given a psychological assessment of motivation and determination of are there observable and measuranle behaviors that were used identify will and parse out other attributes so that it can be accurately quantitied?

If not, then saying MJ had more will than LeBron is a claim that lacks evidence. It's pure conjecture.

Again, it is well documented with Coaches, team mates, opponents, owners, etc...

If you need me to pull all of the articles, videos, etc. explaining this I can

Anyone who grew up watching MJ knows this.

And I honestly couldn't stand the Bulls, I was not an MJ fan. BUT I acknowledge greatness and respect his game and what he has done and continues to do for the sport. The people trying to make LBJ better or equal to MJ is just moronic.

And those people studied Lebron as well? No. Ever notice the "greatest will to win" people always seem to be the ones that are also the best fricking players? Maybe, just maybe, he won so much because he was better at basketball. Did MJ have a great work ethic? Yes. But there are bumbling 5'4" fricking retards that have "the will to win" like MJ and they best their nuts in whatever they do. But they suck at basketball. I guarantee you there are multiple players that work as hard and have "the will to win" in the NBA just like MJ but thay cant hold his jock in the game of basketball so articles arent written about it

MJ is the best ever. I am just smart enough to not eat the bullshite "will to win" cliche the media throws at you. I bet you lapped up the "Kobe has the clutch gene" too?

I would put up an argument that if we are talking about clutch, that Paul Pierce is as clutch as Kobe and Lebron. If not more.

Easily Kobe. Kobe is actually a very very bad clutch scorer. Lebron and MJ are tied with a very good 47%. Not sure where Pierce ranks

I know MJ had the will to win. You said this will made him the greatest and better than LeBron, who also clearly has will to win. So if both have the will to win, why did you say to put aside the objective data of basketball, and say that it was MJ's will that makes him the greatest?

You must have some evidence to make such a statement. Do you?

Has Lebron gone out in a finals game with the flu and a 100+ fever and dominated?

You mean hungover as frick from the night before from being a degenerate? Which begs me to ask; Why would someone with a lions will to win, be going out all night before a game?

I'd like to know. Dude has done it for a long time. They had this guy dead and buried when he was with BK. Talk about a resurrection this year in the playoffs.

Here is the way I look at it. Stats are to get players in the HOF when they have not won a championship. Its a way for reporters and fan boys to validate the "greatness" of said player.

Once a player has crossed over into winning championchips even multiple championsips, I think the accomplishments start to speak for themselves. What they've done in the playoffs, and in the championship series, is more important that stats that they rack up on in the regular season. Regular season stats, again in my opinion, is for getting players who aren't on the championship level in the HOF or the HOF discussion.

With that said, how can one person argue that Lebron is the GOAT **AT THIS POINT IN HIS CAREER**, when MJ has won 6 rings, 6 Finals MVPs, and 3 3-peats.

No. Although it was probably food poisoning, is getting sick in the finals now necessary to attain GOAT status?
