McNeese State athletic director Tommy McClelland could be named the new athletic director at Louisiana Tech on Tuesday, according to media reports.

Although McClelland's hiring hasn't been officially confirmed by school officials, it appears he will succeed Bruce Van De Velde, who was recently re-assigned within the university.

The media report came from Patrick Netherton, the voice of NSU sports and a member of the Tim Brando Show.

McClelland holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Northwestern State where he was a football and track standout. The native of Basile, La., served as a graduate assistant at Northwestern State in athletics and also worked at the Southland Conference office as an administrative intern, assisting with championship events.

Louisiana Tech has chosen McNeese State's Tommy McClelland as AD
Details

Joe Schad reporting on this on twitter. Sounds like a solid hire. Can any McNeese fans tell me more? Apparently he is a hell of a fundraiser.

This is true and will be announced soon. Mcneese fans will be very happy to get rid of him. Sports teams have gone downhill since he was hired

I think you are right. And how about your boy getting the job at Wichita State? Not a bad gig.

Wow...what a lie. MSU fans are very sad to see him go. The most progressive AD in recent McNeese history.

-Football has remained competitive with a very popular coach.
-Women's Basketball has been to the NCAA tournament twice in last 3 yrs, the other yr losing in the conference title game
-Men's Basketball has won the conference twice and been to the postseason hosting Boston College in the NIT (lost in conference tournament so didn't make NCAA)
-Did you see the field house prior to his arrival compared to the new one? New field house is amazing with technology for both coaches and an academic center for students.
-Baseball has struggled some but he just made a new hire like 2 weeks ago.

Tech will be VERY happy with him. He's not a guy that just sits around and watching things come to him. He's going to have a vision and pursue it aggressively.

Re-read my post. I said sports teams not sports venues. What he did for the field house was awesome. However, what's sad is that he can't keep good coaches around (see d coordinator leaving a month for the season starts to a rival) and the baseball team has been awful as of late(see coach being forced to resign). I will give you that basketball has somewhat improved, but attendance is embarassing. I think a lot of MSU fans agree with me

Can't really blame him on football problems. Everyone knows he isn't the boss on that decision.

I'm interested to see who we hire now that he's gone. A lot of people around town are excited about the new baseball hire. If we can get a good hire for AD and maybe a new football coach it would bring a lot of excitement back to our sports programs.
