Don't get me wrong. Shanahan was a fantastic OC all year long, and even called a really solid game for the most part, but if he doesn't screw up the playcalling late in the 4th quarter Atlanta is going home with the trophy.

2nd and 11 from the 23 yardline, 4 minutes on the clock. NE has 3 TOs left. If Atlanta runs the ball twice, NE is forced to call 2 of their timeouts and would most likely present Atlanta with a FG somewhere close to 40 yards. On FGs in-between 30-49 yards this year, Matt Bryant is 94%.

94 Freaking Percent chance to go up by 11 points with around 3:30 on the clock and NE only having one timeout. You have to play the odds in that situation. Yes, Ryan taking a sack was bad, but he should never have been put in that situation. My heart goes out to all the Atlanta fans in what has to be one of the most heartbreaking losses of all time. to hoping it's the Falcons and Cowboys in the NFCCG next year.

C'mon man: Tom Brady

I'm a HUGE Aaron Rodgers fan, and I don't see him winning that game. No matter what Shanahan does

I agree I think. But that would go against the Falcons MO. Julio was doing what he wanted. They thought they were going in for the kill. So I kind of get the thinking.

you missed one.

Shanahan should have gone for it on 4th down.

Bradshaw on the sideline after the punt. Someone asked him, You don't think Brady can drive it 91 yards on them do you? Bradshaw, You just watch.

I would not have given Tom Brady the ball back. No punt.

yes, it would look bad if they didn't make it, but if Brady got the ball at the 50 with 330 left and two time outs, the TD would have been scored with 2 minutes left. Then ATL could have got a FG.

I really don't understand the thinking of OCs nowadays. When you have a running game that is clicking, why not just keep running the ball down the opposing team's throat until they show they can stop it? Plus sticking with the running game would have kept Tom Brady on the sidelines and allowed the Falcons defense to get some rest.

They were up 8 points. A fg is just as lethal as a td. Plus if they run the ball they either burn clock or force pats to use their timeouts. OP is 100% right. The decision on second down to throw the ball cost them the super bowl.

GTFOH. It was like 4th and 30 from near midfield. A first down there was the least likely outcome.

This is where atlanta actually choked the game away. As soon as ryan dropped back i thought a sack could get brady a shot at this, and it happened.
