Biggest news of the day...Kevin Sumlin's new 6-year contract is signed & completed. He'll earn $5-million per year with a $5-million buyout.

$5 million for a coach who has never won a conference championship.

I don't know...the Ags kind of slipped a little this year, guess we will have to see how they do if Johnny Football leaves after this season. But that is a lot of serious coin for a coach who may finish 3rd or 4th in the SEC West the next few years, we shall see...

Hmm I was just discussing this with my brother & good friend who are both Aggies. They think Sumlin has done a great job. I think they overpaid him so they call me a hater. But what has Sumlin ever won to deserve such a pay day?

I don't disagree that he is being overpaid. But he has probably paid for himself with the new excitement and revitalization he(and JFF) have brought to A&M.

I know at some level schools can afford to pay these coaching salaries but this is real money being thrown around to guys who haven't done it yet. It is one thing to get paid when you win a conference or national championship - it is desperate for schools to overpay guys who have done neither.

What revitalization? They're the 4th place team in their own division. Is it revitalization because they score a lot of points?

Well, they did set a record for athletic donations. This is more about ROI in terms of dollars rather than on-the-field performance.

He was getting big school attention from schools who aren't afraid to pony up.

A&M loves him so they overpaid. Lock your guy up. That's the name of the game.
