For Kansas football fans February 4th, 2017 will be a day talked about for a long time. When it comes to getting football commitments it is the biggest day in KU recruiting history, or at least since we have been tracking recruiting since 1998.
In an eight-hour span David Beaty and his staff secured commitments from six players.
One was Clayton Tune, a quarterback from Texas the coaches have been targeting for five months. He was the top quarterback on their board.
Then fireworks exploded from recruits in Louisiana. Five of the top 30 prospects from Louisiana gave verbal commitments to the Jayhawks. Three of them are rated in the top six in a state loaded with high school football talent.
I smell a rat!

They hired a popular NOLA high school coach to their staff last year. Hence interest from LA boys.

Kansas is just prepping for their future move to the SEC when the Big 12 implodes.

I met Beaty when he was the head coach of a high school in Irving. Genuine dude and fun to be around. I don't think all of these commits stick around though.

Damn wish we still had Beaty. He's a great recruiter

I'm skeptical that these stick, but the guys he's got committed (aside from Devonta Jason) are typically guys that go to Arkansas, A&M, and Mississippi State. Sometimes TCU, Texas, or Oklahoma.
Really good players, but without offers from LSU or Alabama.
I think Arkansas could pull Brule and Chase if they push for them, given the many Rummel players on the roster there already. Mississippi State could probably make a play for Harris and Jason.
Jason will continue to get recruited by LSU more than likely.
Pooka Williams is a bit of a wildcard. He is a guy I'm hoping LSU offers, but we usually don't offer guys his size for offense. I could see him ending up in the SEC though.
The DL from Plaquemine I know zero about.

They are number 9 by 247 right now. Obviously that isn't likely to hold up, but at least it shows promise. I feel like if a coach could ever just get some talent there to turn the corner, then they could be a decent (6 to 8 win) program.

Good for Kansas. I hope all these guys stick to their commitment

Couple of things at play here
1) Its much easier for a place like Kansas to get recruits out of football season. Once season starts its obvious how far behind they are in game day atmosphere etc
2) Kansas has hired NO natives as coaches.
3) Apparently several NO schools are pissed at O and LSU about Jaluke.

Way too early to even worry about this. I bet you most of those guys don't end up at KU.
