GRANTLAND

quote:

According to the FanGraphs playoffs odds, Houston now owns just a 1.4 percent chance of winning the West — compared to a peak of 90 percent in late August. However, the much scarier proposition is that the Astros are now fighting for their playoff lives. A seven-game winning streak by the Angels briefly lifted them above Houston in the race for the second wild-card berth, but after Mike Trout & Co. lost to Texas last night, the Astros have a one-game lead heading into the final weekend of the season.

Young team that wasn't even supposed to be in this situation months ago. Non-story to bash a team because there's nothing else to write about.

It's hardly a non-story. If they over achieved and then fell off the map, people may be curious as to why.

True but I feel like if they don't get better coaches they may be most likely to become the Washington National

Felt so good to see that team of losers implode.

The Ranger's dominated the Astros this season. The Astros suck against Left Handed pitching, which the Ranger's happen to have some pretty good lefties.

The Ranger's played their best baseball against the Astros. And the Astros played their worst against the Rangers.

If the Astros had played .500 ball against the Rangers, then the Rangers wouldn't have taken the division. Their head-to-head matchup is the difference maker. (that and the fact the Astros pretty much crumbled after the all star break)

This isn't rocket science.

Anyone with half a brain knew the astros were in trouble 3 months ago. Slow time for news right now I guess.

Yeah that's what I thought. Before the season I remember people saying next year will be "their year" and they surprised everyone this year. If they were to miss the playoffs with how well they've done, it would be disappointing. But it's still impressive where they're at.

Kazmir needs to get back to basics and start a new training program alongside Clint Everts at Cy Falls.

This will all be forgotten when Keuchel goes into Yankee Stadium and shuts down a left-heavy NYY team, and the Astros bats bomb tanaka for 4 homers
