High school has resigned as head coach this morning. Will be going to Southern Miss. Good for Ouachita high cause that man really sucked as a head coach at Ouachita high.

Carr was 72-28 in eight seasons as the Lions head coach. Ouachita was a 2005 Class 4A semifinalist under Carr and advanced to the quarterfinals this past season.

I think saying he "sucked" is a little extreme. Great....no, but he wasn't that bad. Ouachita does not have the resources it use to (Richwood).
It is not as easy to win there as it use to be.

He was a good coach and really promoted his players and the school. I think he did a pretty good job. He even got us past the 2nd round a few times. Something only Vallery did.

Carr not rolling out a WM type team each year doesn't make him a bad coach. You give him Richwood like Vallery had and who knows what he does. I agree with another poster that Foster will probably get the job and foster played under Vallery and Kenny Ferro(sp) so he has the knowledge to make a difference. Coach Carr was a great guy and did anything I ever asked of him in regards to our youth football program. He will be missed by everyone with realistic expectations as opposed to those that live by the State Champ or bust each motto.

I like John quite a bit. His wife, Paige, worked for me for quite some time so John was around fairly often. Super Guy!

His record speaks for itself. Be careful when you criticize him as his replacement could easily do worse.

I couldn't be more happy for Coach Carr. He was my high school defensive coordinator. Very intense guy with who always found a way to motivate us and give our defense an emotional and schematic edge week in and week out. Even with limited resources our last 2 seasons

No other coach was as fun to watch film with, he most definitely has a one of a kind personality and wasn't afraid to call anyone out. The man has a very high football IQ FWIW

Saying Carr sucked as a HC is pretty dumb.

Obviously he had a pretty good record, but they always choked in the playoffs.

He didn't suck. He underachieved though. He just couldn't get over the WM hump. A win against WM early in his stint could've gone a long way. Who knows what could have been. Good luck to him in Hattiesburg

<<<<------OPHS Class of 96 that was part of the last class (95) that beat WM and every other 2-5A school in every sport.

Larry fricking Foster was an OL in football and 1B in baseball. He has the pedigree to lead East Side High back to the glory days. I just don't know if he and his FIL can take the stress.

How is Carr's relationship with players/families in the community? Can he bring some recruits to USM?

I was at the Ouachita v Rummel play off game, and left feeling like he cost Ouachita the game. They were definitely the better team that night.

As we were walking out, a pretty large group of former players were chanting for the admin to fire him.
