Who will retire first??? 379-377 Joepa. Maybe they can get even and both retire as co-leaders?

I hate to sound blue, but I honestly think Joe Pa will coach till the day he dies.

He's got his team back.

I guess as long as he still can...

Bowden will retire earlier, and probably live another 10 years after he retires.

Paterno will retire one to two years after Bowden retires, and will die within a year of retirement.

Really surprised Penn State has not forced Paterno out. Would imagine many of the Penn State fans have mixed feelings about this great start aka Fulmer

A better question is which one is really coaching. At this point I truely think that both are nothing more than figure heads.

But to answer your question, Joe Paterno sold his soul to the devil in order to out last Bobby Bowden. Ironicly Bobby also sold his soul to the devil to out coach JoPa. There for both men will live and coach forever.

The problem is that it's been awhile. You're from Big 10 country. Are you saying that before this season Paterno had full support of the Penn State faithful?

My cousin went to PSU and he is obviously a huge Joe Pa guy, but at a wedding this summer he wanted Joe Pa gone I think, and a lot of PSU alumni did too.

But he is winning again so it's gonna be tough to get him to go I think. Especially since this is a very young PSU team.

I pray they don't make it to the MNCG.

I think Bobby Bowden will. He is past due to leave FSU and he looks like he will not be around much longer. Joe Pa does also, but he seems to be working harder as a head coach.

It is ashame that both will most likey die coaching chasing the record and not retire in order to give some insight into their thought process and what it was like coaching through the time period they coached. It would be nice to see and here these guys instead of Musbuger and crew before they lose all sense of football. There are alot of 40+ guys out there that really would like to hear these guys insight on the game today.

I think Bowden might be more likely to retire or be forced out sooner since FSU had already named his successor. However, this assumes that a) Paterno has his contract extended at the end of the season and b) Paterno stays healthy.

At one of Paterno's press conferences he was asked which season opening game he remembers the most. He said his first against I think Maryland, but he made a point of saying he doesn't have time to look back since he's too busy looking forward.
