Jerry Jones is one step closer to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that Jones, the Cowboys’ owner/general manager, and former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue have been named contributor finalists for the Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s nine-person contributor committee selected Jones and Tagliabue from a pool of 10 contributor nominees.

Jones, Tagliabue and seniors committee finalist Kenny Easley will join a group of 15 finalists yet to be determined. The Class of 2017 election vote will take place in Houston on Super Bowl weekend in February.

Of all the owners in the history of the NFL, I'd say he's pretty famous.

This is great news. The bigger his head gets, the worse decisions he makes. Trust me, the Cowgirls fans here in Dallas are not happy about this.

He took over the owners...and has the most power.

People think its Kraft but it's still Jones.

(And Jones was one of the few friends of Al Davis.)

I think most owners who have won 3 SB are in, right?

But Jones did it in a 4 year span with Jimmy Jones.

Al Davis did it with 2 different coaches - and really is in for all he did in making the NFL capitulate to the AFL...as the boss.

....and force the merger and his influence on the game in recruiting, play style and management and building the Raiders from nothing into the winningest franchise in sports from 1960 - 1988...Raiders had the highest winning % in all of sports.

I guess Jerra has helped the Cowboys continue their brand...and built a huge shrine...but I don't know how he has grown the game. Owners should have a high bar to get in...they aren't players. They should really have made a huge impact.

Jones seems more like Steinbrenner and less like Al Davis and Lamar Hunt.

Good time for him to augment his legacy by bringing in a drunk and high Johnny Football.

Not a Cowboys in the least, but I think Jerry Jones is deserving member as a contributor.

Sorry, but the Saints fans love Jerry Jones!
He fired Tom Landry, Saints were 1-11 before Jerry took over, now we're 8 of 9 since he fired Jimmy.

For some reason your history stops at 2013. The Cowboys blasted the Saints in 2014 and the Saints beat the Cowboys in 2015.
