From reading the article that's what it seems like, ESPN and all the other sport reporters made it sound like she was actually hired on as a coach, not an intern.

I thought it was going to end at the end of training camp no matter what ever since she was hired. She was just a camp coach to my understanding, which is very common.

Not sure about the coaching staff specifically but NFL teams hire a lot of employees for other departments for just training camp. I can see this being the same.

That is how I worked for the Cowboys, Bucky and Mike hired me just for camps. Got paid through tips by the vets with free room and board.

I remember them specifically saying (and her acknowledging) that this was a camp internship. They said they bring in a bunch of interns to get their feet wet.
