Although the free-agent kicker was in the courtroom because he's a member of the NFL Players Association's executive committee, Feely did get some private time in front of Judge Richard Berman and he used that private time to explain his thoughts on the 2009 Jets situation and how it compares to the current one involving Brady.

In an interview on Tuesday with The Doug Gottlieb Show, Feely explained what exactly happened when he met with Judge Berman behind closed doors.

"One of the situations I talked about was when I was with the Jets because they had an equipment guy who got in trouble, ironically, playing the Patriots," Feely said. "It was referenced in the NFLPA brief that we sent into the judge."

"If anything happened -- I don't believe it did and Tom Brady maintains his innocence that nothing happened -- but if something had happened, it would've been a speeding ticket and [the NFL] reacted like it was a homicide," Feely said. "That's the metaphor I can give you".

Pretty good take on the situation!

Who cares? It is just not a big deal. Fine him and tell him not to do it again. This is so fricking stupid.

It is not the deflation that the NFL is upset about. But the NFLPA has done a good job getting it out there that this is all about deflating footballs.

This whole thing is, but to think Feely's information has any bearing on this in a legal sense is nonsense.

Is it about lying? Wahhhhhhhhhhh big bad Brady might have lied to us about taking too much air out of his footballs! Wahhhhhhhhhhh

They can't fricking prove he lied. They can only prove the footballs were deflated too much. Tough titty, move the frick on.

And that's the NFL and Goodell's biggest problem. They keep getting these fricking vendettas that backfire time after time after time.

The overreach on Bountygate and Deflategate are so ridiculous. Both Sean Payton's and Tom Brady's suspensions were so egregious and beyond common logic that they defy belief.

Goodell is the worst commish in major American sports history. The worst.

Which is pretty good grounds for appeal given that it occurred under a different CBA.

Goddell is not the worst going right now, that is Gary Bettman.

Pretty irrelevant whenever they didn't add anything in to the new CBA about ball tampering and they never even questioned feely despite that he could've been found "generally aware"

Not to mention the Carolina thing

yeah the minnesota / carolina thing is easily the closest comparable.
