Crittenton had been charged as the trigger man in the 2011 drive-by shooting of Julian Jones outside her Atlanta home, killing the mother of four. Crittenton fired at her mistakingly thinking she was part of a previous robbery, according to the police report.

quote:

Wednesday, Crittenton pled guilty to the shooting as part of a plea bargain that will have him serving 23 years in prison, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Crittenton apologized for the shooting death of Julian Jones, calling it a horrible accident.

Crittenton and his cousin and co-defendant Douglas Gamble, 29, were charged with murder, felony murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and participation in criminal street gang activity. Both pleaded guilty to lesser charges of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault.

Sad story.

He and Thaddeus Young breathed life into Paul Hewitt's career for a little while.

There was a fascinating article on fox sports last year about how crittenton joined a faction of the crips when he was in LA. That faction was very unique bc all of the members were upper middle class guys who went to college and most came from stable families. He then started associating with crips in his hometown who were more hardcore, became a target for his wealth, got robbed several times bc he was perceived to be soft, and then did this to show he was a true gangster.

What an idiot.

I hadn't heard that. Pretty wild.

Dude's a dumbass. At least he has his street cred now, right? Wonder if he thinks it was worth it.

damn that was an amazing read

that would make a good movie

that's the only real problem i have with kids being one and done to the NBA. He wasn't mentally ready for being a multi millionaire living on his own in a new city.

You give him 2-3 more years of schooling and it's an entirely different story. Give a 19 year old a million dollars and ship him to the other side of the country and on top of that, have him playing less than he's ever played in his basketball life. that's not a good secenerio

Definitely has the potential to be a bad situation.

But I think this is definitely an outlier situation.
