I heard this story on the Dan Lebatard radio show a few weeks back. Shows how tough NFL players really are.

quote:

He was just a few blessed hours from having his leg amputated. He played games, plural, with a hidden and taped catheter running from his armpit to his heart. His calf was oozing blood for so many months, from September of one year to February of another, that he had to have the equivalent of a drain installed.

Definitely tough and requires a pain threshold I couldnt dream of, but what an idiotic thing to do.

Also on his show, he interviewed a former Baltimore Raven lineman who played with a catheter and a pee bag taped to his leg. I also heard of Tony Seragusa shitting his pants and playing through it.

I hope it wasn't when he was on the dolphins. If so, frick them for letting him go out there and play like that.

I think this was while on the Redskins. He said he called James Andrews after sending x-rays. Andrews said he needed to go to the ER now. He said can I fly to see you and have you do the surgery. Andrews said sure but it will cost you your leg, literally.
