I suspect the Giants are using the injury solely as leverage in the the contract situation. It's not like JPP is a WR, RB or QB. Hell, there are defensive guys who play with their hands wrapped like a club from time to time.

I could be wrong, but I think he was kind of on the down low, seeing what he could salvage on his own before trying to get team docs/help involved. You're right, they could probably hook him with a decent prosthetic.
