Veteran free agent Jaromir Jagr has reportedly committed to joining the Calgary Flames for the upcoming NHL season, according to multiple sources.

The 45-year-old, who is second on the league's career points list with 1,914, is expected to sign a one-year, $1-million US deal with an additional $1 million in bonuses, according to hockey insiders Elliotte Friedman and Pierre LeBrun.

Does he earn the bonuses by not dying?

He's playing with Matthew Tkachuk, whose dad, Keith, was drafted the same year as Jagr

Best description I've seen in a long time for Super Mario.

I don't think this move helps us, at all. will be fun to watch, though

It doesn't really hurt them I don't think. Between Calgary and Stockton they seem loaded with talented younger players who may be a year or more away. Looks like Jankowski may finally be in the lineup to open the year. On paper their goalie situation is considerably better. Their top 4 on D is among the top groups in the league. For now it seems like everyone is healthy, got your best players ready to go to start the year now.

And I think they just covered the 'grizzled veteran' role to the Nth degree.

Jagr is legit one of the good guys. Happy to see him still playing. He'll produce too.

I hope he never retires.

I love watching guys skate when they are ancient against kids the same age as their kids.

Chelios, Selanne, Messier- they played forever and it was fun watching them mix it up on the ice til the end.

I think howe played with his kids when he was 50.
