IYO, which active MLB players will be first ballot HOFers?

And who will be eventual HOFers?
First ballot:
Albert Pujols
Miguel Cabrera
Ichiro
Joey Votto
Mike Trout
Bryce Harper
Clayton Kershaw
Max Scherzer? I think so, he's an ironman, at least 170 innings in 8 straight seasons, including 4 straight with at least 200. He's 32, and he's got a Nolan Ryan type arm, he keeps going & going.
There are some that I'd love to see make a push for it, like Corey Kluber, but he started so late, first full season was at age 27, he's 31 now. Chris Sale can definitely make a push, he's only 28. If guys like Bumgarner, Goldschmidt keep up their pace, they'll be there.
HOFers, but not first ballot?
CC
Verlander
Greinke
King Felix
Adrian Beltre
Carlos Beltran
Chase Utley
Young(er) guys that I think have the potential:
Carlos Correa
Kris Bryant
Jose Altuve
Giancarlo Stanton(please stay healthy)
Nolan Arenado
Freddie Freeman
I know I've left some out, so don't crucify me if your favorite player or a guy from your team isn't there. And I'm sure I've left some obvious guy out too....

You are being generous unless you think the writers have just quit their stinginess.
There's like 225 1st ballot in history.
1st ballot averages one a year.
Not first ballot:
Joe DiMaggio
Jimmie Foxx
Yogi Berra
Cy Young
Tris Speaker

Probably a homer pick here, but I feel like Beltre should be a first ballot guy.

Will if they retired today
Albert Pujols
Miguel Cabrera
Robinson Cano
Adrian Beltre
Ichiro Suzuki
Clayton Kershaw
Should but won't be (Might get in on later ballots)
Joe Mauer
Chase Utley
Carlos Beltran
All of the other players, Trout included still have some work to do.

These are the only first ballot locks right now imo obviously pending some type of disaster with Trout.

I don't necessarily disagree, but Votto is so underrated, and Harper is only 24, and barring some injury, he'll be there, IMO.

8th all-time among 2B in JAWS (6/7 ahead of him are HOFers), eight all-star games (the only 2B with eight or more AS games who is not in the HOF is Bobby Richardson), WAR7 of 50.3 (seventh all-time, all six 2B ahead of him are HOFers), plus he played in the biggest market for a huge chunk of his career. Cano is getting in easily.

Beltre will have some awesome stats by retirement...over 3k hits tons of power, great defense...he should be 1st ballot

Buster Posey could retire today and waltz in!
Posted on 7/17/17 at 12:55 am to lanticguy
dont know about that but hes definitely on his way in. hes only in his 8th season and his peak WAR is already hall of fame worthy, and thats with him missing so much of 2011
his whole career has basically been peak hall of fame level

I think the locks are Pujols, Cabrera, Ichiro, Kershaw & Trout.
Votto should be a no brainer 1st ballot, but for some reason, he is historically under appreciated. Harper is 24 and has put up amazing numbers thus far, not Trout like numbers, but great numbers nonetheless. Scherzer is an interesting one, going back to 2012, his numbers have been amazing, and he's so damn consistent. Another, Idk, 3-5 years of consistency, may put him in. He was my long shot first ballot guy. When he's "on" I think he's the most dominant pitcher in baseball, even over Kershaw, and I'll admit, I'm a Kershaw homer. Love watching Scherzer pitch.
