He's about to be gone, but Nebraska has done well out west under Mike Riley. They landed several four-star players from California (and Tyjon Lindsey from Nevada) in 2016 and 2017.

Jury is still out on P.J. Fleck, in my opinion. The cupboard was not left bare for Fleck. With a fan base that expected to start 6-1 against an easy schedule, they're sitting at 3-3 (0-3).

Recruiting is not noticeably different, though they just landed a good looking prospect that recently decommitted from Kentucky, and Fleck's recruiting tactics always leave him susceptible to decommits (five this cycle already).

Just glancing at their current roster. They've got:

8 - Florida
7 - Texas
7 - California
7 - Louisiana

I'm not sure if these guys are any good, but they do have somewhat of a presence in these states (New Orleans and Shreveport particularly for Louisiana).

Fleck has not proven anything yet.

Frost has said that the recruiting base he has in Florida is perfect for his system. I just don't think his system will work at Nebraska and in the Big Ten. Nebraska needs a coach who will "fit" at Nebraska. Frost is a good coach but fit may be the issue.

Nebraska's facilities are ridiculously good. I mean, think of a program that has great facilities and then top it. People can say "great facilities", the Huskers take it to another level.

I've tried telling fellow Husker fans that Bert would be a good fit but they bring up his record at Arkie and talk about how Frost is the guy and all.

I want Bert but I think we end up getting Frost.

Pretty sure Les Miles son is the biggest recruit from Louisiana they have.

It is tough sledding in modern day recruiting at Nebraska

So like I said Ben Miles is the top recruit.........................................................

Yall have averaged a recruiting ranking of 30 the last 5 years.......

The days of NU hoping to be a top program are over. The landscape of college football changed, and Nebraska cant compete with the top dogs anymore in recruiting.

Only thing Nebraska needs to do is to bring in a good, young energetic coach.

There's an energetic wee lad up in Minneapolis who is just waiting for the phone to ring. Now, he isn't good, but he is young and energetic. 2 out of 3 may be the best they can hope for.

Let me go further, in the last 15 years(as far back as rivals goes) Nebraska only has had 3 recruiting classes break the top 20.....

They should have never left the big 12 and all their Texas recruiting ties

People who say this do not understand the business of college football.

Bert wants to be able to play for national championships, so he's not coming back to the B1G.

Minnesota is one of those teams that should be better than they are

Holtz started to rebuild it for couple years
Gutenkust and Wacker destroyed it
Mason rebuilds it
Brewster demolishes it
Kill brings it back
Fleck who knows what he does now but he is on the wrong side of this trend.

In my opinion he's really with Kill. If kill doesn't resign due to health that's his team and the recruits were actually Kills mostly.

Most of their recruits have always been stealing Cali or Florida kids.

Which is smart...because that's where the talent is.

Nebraska's ceiling is Wisconsin which is playing in Rose Bowls when the Big 10 is in the CFB Playoff or winning the conference when the Big 10 is down. But like Wisconsin, they'll never truly be elite. Wisconsin is very successful but they're never in the national championship conversation in late November and December. They're always a borderline top 10, top 15 team year after year. That's basically Nebraska's ceiling.

Except they have been better than that for basically their entire history.
