Does this just mean that he renegotiates a new contract, is that all this is?

He's going to sign another 2 year deal with a player option after 1 year, 2 years 44.5 mil.

He actually doesn't even gain 1 mil by opting out this offseason, where he gains the most money is opting out next season. This offseason is about having control of what moves the Cavs are going to make.

Yes and no.

He'll add himself some protection by signing another 2 year deal with an opt out clause next year too. So it gives him some control over the moves and an extra year of guaranteed money in case of injury

It would be financially stupid not to protect yourself

He is making sure they have the money they need to go get other pieces. Great move by him.

I don't think that's in play, his cap hold is really high.

He's just making the obvious vest financial decision and also wielding his power.

Seriously this was always the plan. To say he is drawing attention to himself or anything is just stupid. He's doing 2 year deals with player options until the cap balloons to 100 mill then signing his first ever max contract.

That was always the plan. He's not visiting other teams. He's not leaving Cleveland.

Yall are making this a big deal not lebron

Who here amongst the thread would do otherwise in their own employ?

I find it funny that everyone knew this was coming and it's really not a big deal but the people that despise him are the ones blowing it up and then calling him an attention whore.

So just because it's part of the plan it makes it OK?

I don't know why we all can't agree he's an attention whore who is always about trying to make headlines.

So you're admitting that you got played by LeBron by making this thread?

I mean, he didn't force you to make this thread. You did it because you wanted to.

Definitely this, they don't get any cap room from him opting out.

The melt would be so delicious

The MSB would shut down Tigerdroppings and by the time it came back up. There would be a giant influx of Laker, Mavericks, Knicks whoever fans talking shite about how the Cavs organization weren't good enough for LBJ and how many titles he'll win with whatever roster he ends up on.

I won't be one of them if he joined the Lakers or Mavs.
