He's pulling an Eli Manning...plain and simple. He is not going to play for the joke of a franchise like the Chargers. He will sit out the whole year and it doesn't matter. All these people arguing about the minutiae of his contract and situation can't see the forest for the trees.

He doesn't need the money… he's from an NFL family. He doesn't care about public opinion, his family members held out too. This won't hurt his ability to be picked up by another team next year because they all know Spanos is a joke too.

If I was offered multi-millions a year to play football and live in San Diego I'd do it in a heartbeat. Hell I'd pay the chargers to take me.

What if he doesn't like the next team he's on?

That'd be hilarious if they drafted him two years in a row.

Would be, but unfortunately it's against the rules for him to be drafted by the same team twice.

In any event, this is a dangerous game he's playing. Go back into the draft and say he drops to the second round, how much money has he lost?

Emmanuel Ogbah was the first DE taken in the second round, his contract had $3.5m guaranteed. That's a steep price to pay for your principles.

Exactly, Bosa might not be the #1 DE drafted next year. Looking at next year's draft class, you have Myles Garrett, Johnathan Allen, Tim Williams, Carl Lawson, Malik McDouglas, and Derek Barnett at DE(/maybe OLB). Then you have to take into account the QBs, RBs, WRs and other positions that might jump him.

I mean does anyone expect Watson(barring injury) to not be #1 next year? Well that means if only 2 others players surpass him in the draft next year, then he's at a lower draft slot with a smaller contract. It's gonna be real interesting to watch it unfold.

I don't understand why anyone would fight against playing in San Diego.

Great city, perfect weather, decent organization, very good QB, etc.

I think this is a bad decision if he wanted to amicably come to terms with his future employer. Got to go into any deal with a high ask and willing to compromise on some things.

This doesn't have much to do with the situation. He's trapped in a relationship with an employer that gets its jollies trying to frick over their new employees compared to what they would be offered by any other organization.

Tomlinson, Merriman, Rivers, now Bosa

That's what Bosa has done, but the Chargers won't compromise.

He would recoup the money on his 2nd deal, Chargers trying to bully him into signing the deal they want. frick that franchise

I think we all know that. But Bosa has a lot to lose here. Hope he knows what he's getting into. If he goes back into the draft he very well could drop to the 2nd round. I think his ceiling with a year out of football is late 1st. That's a $14-15m loss.

That would be an extraordinary stand to take. I couldn't do it.
