I don't really follow the AFC East very closely, but they fired their offensive coordinator and they're purging their roster, and it seems like they're heading for a straight rebuild. I don't see them being able to compete for a while.

Have they hired a new GM?

Yes. They announced they were shopping Revis the day before his presser announcing the hire.

I don't think they can move Revis coming off the knee and get good value for him, plus he's going to want huge $$ next year when his contract is up. Nice mess to step into for the new GM.

No big GM canidate wanted the job because Rex would be forced on them

If they have another rough season theyll clean house and start from scratch

That front office were "geniuses" when they were trading all their draft picks for elite talent like Mark Sanchez

Now they have no depth. I wonder what happened

Rex is a good coach and a good motivator. Needs someone else to draft and run the front office for him and he needs a good OC that he won't bother.

You've said this before, and I'll say this again, the Jets only lost a 2nd round pick and 3 backups to move up to select what was considered a top QB prospect. The 3 players they traded to the Browns aren't even on the roster anymore and one isn't even in the league.

It was a good trade, but no one had a time machine to be privy to his career standings so far. The trades that resulted in only 2 picks after that crippled that draft. Above all, the 2008 and 2009 free agent contracts ruined the team longterm. It was built to win now, and when that window shut in the 2-3 year span, it stayed shut.

They have no choice but to start fresh, they are losing have the team because of contracts and age...

They were an older team when Farve was there. They tried to make a run with vets they brought in and failed, that roster is being rebuilt now.

Oh I do

He did a lot of good things initially as the GM from a drafting standpoint, he just gradually got worse financially. He was suppose to be a cap wizard, yet he ended up overpaying a lot of people which caused the situation the Jets are currently in. I think less than half the starters are under contract presently, some they they have no choice but to let go.

Idzik is suppose to be good the cap as well, but he does have a background in football and as a scout too.

Fortunately for Jerry he can't be fired, because they are going to be dumping some salaries soon too. They did get screwed a bit by Mara leading the charge imposing that cap penalty on the skins and the boys before the new CBA was in place. But signing guys like Doug Free to huge contracts will lead to off season salary dumps. Free counts $10,020,000 against the cap this year.

Only person that can fire Jerry is the same person who "fired" Al Davis.
