Dude is a Hall-of-Famer with a great career. He took the backseat on this team all year. Playoffs come, and he's Mr. Clutch.

I always appreciate when superstars learn to change their game. You can't always be THE guy. But Pierce has done a pretty great job this year.

Broussard: "Did you call bank?"

Pierce: "I called game."

Don't know, Kobe could probably still throw up a prayer and have it bank in from time to time as well.

Hard to pass up up 25 million a year, Pierce didn't have that option.

Kobe cares too much about Kobe and Kobe's legacy as a Laker to ever go elsewhere or take a backseat.

should kobe have turned down the money that he was offered? i mean its not like that contract is destroying our opportunity to rebuild. we are going to have stacks on stacks on stacks over the next couple of years in free agency. we just cant give rondo a huge contract

To be fair, Kobe's team is garbage. It's not like there is a Wall or Beal on his team for him to take a backseat too.

No. I just think he would have been better off taking a Pierce/VC like role on a team.

I understand taking the money. And the Lakers are HIS team.

Kobe's team is garbage because elite free agents don't want to go there to play second fiddle to a player they are better than.

as he shouldnt. if he actually demands another contract like he just got then yea you part ways but outside of that, you keep him in the organization. he deserves it, to call him a laker all timer is a gross understatement

I agree he shouldn't. Do you think he's the greatest Laker of all-time? I do and it's not a knock on Magic or Kareem. I think he's the best player in Laker history. JMHO.

This coming from a lifelong Knicks fan.

or because the team itself is garbage and everyone knew there was no chance the team would be anything else but garbage. the lakers have already come out and said that we are going to be very aggressive over the next couple of years in free agency and i will be immensely surprised if we dont pick someone up

This is ultimately where I'm at. Can't blame him for taking the money. Any other job, the whole world doesn't know that you are grossly overpaid because of past accomplishments.

Magic for sure. Dude averaged close to a triple double a few times, and he was the star right away. Incredible rookie year and he never looked back.
