Is JR Smith the worst possible guy to have on the court with < 3 minutes left?

Dude was seriously taking some of the dumbest shots I've ever seen in a basketball game at any level.

Hey JR, you know that you don't have to throw up a 3 with two guys in your grill the instant the ball touches your fingertips. You especially don't have to do this when there are 15 or more seconds remaining on the shot clock.

And somehow, Shumpert found a way to one-up him tonight.

Some of the shots he threw up were mind blowing. Every time someone passed the ball to him it thought to myself...

"There's no way he shoo....WTF!"

It was insane. Every time he touched the ball he shot it instantaneously down the stretch. shite one of those shots I'm pretty sure he didn't even really catch it. He just redirected it toward the basket. From 24 feet out.

They both have bad offensively but they both haven't let it effect them defensively except for the bone headed fouls JR had at the end of game 2. The crazy thing you know Smith is going to catch fire eventually but the question is when? His body language after some of those bad shots has been pretty poor.

I would think surrounding Lebron with cerebral, poised role players would make the most sense. That's why I thought JR Smith was a terrible addition. It worked out better than expected, but Lebron is that good. I'm convinced Joe Harris would be a better option.

His shot that was blocked couldn't have been in his hand for more than half a second. It's like he works his arse off to find his spots and gets rhythm then just shits it down the drain with....can't even call em heat checks. He just mindlessly launches the ball at the rim.

The guy isn't horrible though. He's got everything it takes to be consistently solid...yet he turns himself into a liability. It's kinda funny until I realize how much I want Lebron to win this series and he needs JR to do it.

the thing is… that is the shot you want JR taking. every now and then he hits like 7 of them in a row. he likes shooting contested shots. it's his only value on the team. that he might go thermal nuclear. the fact that the cavs have won without having a big JR smith game is pretty telling.

i'm gonna bet that he has a big one in the next game or two. if he goes off, the Cavs win.

JR is 12/35 this series. Last night he was 4/9. He's capable of contributing more. Just waiting for him to wake up. But man is he frustrating. When he's on, he's on. And when he's off its bad.

JR Smith habitually poops himself when the pressure is on. It's tough to do anything right once you're trying to keep the terd in your pants from touching your legs

wait... Are you serious? JR may make some boneheaded mistakes, but the dude is clutch and will take big shots.

I'm not sure anymore, Shumpert was really giving him a run for his money.

If Lebron pulls off these finals with boneheads like this as his help, GOAT fo sho.

He's made some big shots in the clutch during his career. He's been anti-clutch the last two games.

It's those games where he's completely dialed in. There's no one that can ride a hot streak like he can. That's why you keep him around.

JR is the human version of NBA Hangtime. The dude catches fire and just throws up successful heat check after heat check.

Then he cools down and CAN'T BUY A BUCKET!
