In 59 Games

29 HR
65 RBI

306/372/761

Randy Johnson comes to mind with the Astros as well as Beltran in recent memory.

Lunhow whiffed on that one. Could have been had for cheap. Sad.

As far as guys who were rentals those numbers have to be tough to beat. Beltran's were great but that is insane

consider Stanton's amazing 2nd half he has had that will win him MVP

69 games

31 HR
68 RBI

276/388/693

JD has matched him almost step for step

That was my first thought when I saw the thread title.

10-1, 84.1 IP, 1.28 ERA, .984 WHIP, 116 K, 4 CGSO, 322 ERA+.

ETA: Also Doyle Alexander in the trade that sent Smoltz to Atlanta.... 9-0 in 11 starts with a 1.53 ERA for Detroit.

It's hard to compare pitchers with position players, though. So the Sabathia, Cliff Lee, Randy Johnson group was great, too, but I can't say better than JD Martinez.

Agree Lester. They are a very dangerous team. If they win the wc.

Don't be surprised when the Rockies beat them.

I wouldn't be totally surprised, but I think Diamondbacks are the better team.
