In all likelihood he will opt out after 2018 and be going on his age 31 season. We saw 30 year old David Price get 7/217 mil and 32 year old Greinke get 6/206 mil. Kershaw is much better than both and the face of th Dodgers. I know they have a very analytical front office but I can't imagine they let him go elsewhere and I think they would give him 10 years if that's what it takes to keep him. It wouldn't shock me to see to him get 9/350 mil or something of that sort

I can't think of many things dumber than giving a pitcher $300 million. Particularly at 31 years old. Elbow and shoulder injuries are about as common as taking a dump these days.

From a pure baseball standpoint it would be stupid but the Dodgers would can afford it and the marketing/ PR aspect of it will push them to it

It seems like 300 million will be the new number for all of the elite players. Stanton started it and now Kershaw, Trout (deserves 400 imo), Harper, Correa, etc will all follow.

No, not at 31 imo. The owners as a whole have also made a conscious effort to change the market and not give out those albatross type contracts and I'm pretty glad they did. Those contracts significantly handicap teams long term.

He's still going to get a grip with a record breaking annual average salary.

If the Dodgers collapse again this year in the postseason I think they'll be the frontrunners to get Darvish. I'm interested to see what he'll get paid since there's no way in hell we are going to pay him what he wants.

I would be surprised if we give out any major deals until the 2018 free agency insanity starts

That is going to be a madhouse.

Machado
Donaldson
Bryce
Brantley
Harvey
Kershaw

I believe, if he were still with us, Jose Fernandez would have been in that FA class too.
