Laugh now but wait a few years until your defense isn't as good and the Panthers will be what Seattle is this year. Except probably worse because Russell Wilson is better than Cam.

So if Carolina wins a Super Bowl does it really matter?

Solid rebuttal. I am now a believer.

I'm a Denver Broncos fan. Speaking of that, we need some more logos. I thought all NFL teams would eventually be added.

It won't matter at all. Carolina could easily win a super bowl this year with that defense and run game. It won't suddenly make Cam good. His stats are so fricking bad. He isn't even the 3rd most valuable player to his own team.

I couldn't help myself. Seriously though I basically wrote off the Panthers when Benjamin went down because I thought they wouldn't be able to keep up on offense. Newton has done a tremendous job.

Let's say his team is down big similarly to how the Colts were in the game Monday night. Could Cam bring them back? I don't see it.
This literally just happened.

His stats aren't as bad as many of you make it out to be. Also, outside of Phillip Rivers. He's done the most with a lackluster supporting cast & a questionable OC in Shula.

I can understand disliking him because he's a divisional opponent. But a small fraction of you go overboard with this shite.

Lol you people just blindly go along. Omg Cams so good cuz he's big and fast and runs sometimes! He is equal to fricking Colin Kaepernick hahahaha. One thing I will say for Cam is that he is clutch. If you give him a chance to win the game, I'd feel pretty good about him winning it. Which works out great on a team with a great defense and run game. But he is never going to lead an explosive offense throwing the ball around like Rodgers, Brees, Brady, etc do. And I couldn't give a frick less that he runs for 600 yards a year. Being a quarterback is about passing. You can take those 600 yards and 55% completion percentage.

I agree. I don't dislike Cam. I dislike losing to him.

Well Keuchly is definitely a better player, but he has missed some time. I'd say Norman is better at his position than Cam is by a significant margin if we are going off of this season. Olsen is a top 5 TE. Davis is a good player as well.

Ranking players on that team:
Kuechly
Norman
Kalil
Olsen
Cam

Ranking players as MVP of the Panthers thus far this season:
Norman - legitimate DPOY nominee
Cam
Olsen

Keuchly - all pro LB
Norman - will be an all pro corner this year, DPOY candidate
Kalil - all pro center. Highest grade at his position on PFF I believe
Olsen - top 3 TE/pro bowl TE

I don't see a problem

Stop comparing Colin Kaepernick's stats to Cam Newton's
The Wall Street Journal felt the stats were close enough to make a story out of it with a tagline reading, "the statistics of the two quarterbacks are nearly identical—but only one lost his job this week." Yes, it's true. One did lose his job this week—and for good reason.

Kaepernick was benched for Blaine Gabbert because he simply was not getting the job done. In the eight games Kaepernick has started this season, he has thrown touchdowns in only three of them. In those three games, Kaepernick had two touchdowns each, but only one came before the second half and four of the six came in the fourth quarter.

My point is, most of Kaepernick's scores came late when the game was already out of reach and the team was basically throwing the ball every play.

As for Newton's numbers, he doesn't have all-world stats for a couple of reasons. The main reason is the Panthers are built to run the football. Carolina currently ranks No. 1 in rushing yards per game (San Francisco is 18th). Also, Newton is throwing to arguably the worst receiving corps in the NFL.

After losing Kelvin Benjamin for the season, Carolina has had Ted Ginn, Corey Brown and Jerricho Cotchery combine for 44 receptions, 626 yards and six touchdowns. There are 11 receivers with more receptions and yards than Carolina's top three receivers combined and four with more touchdowns as well.

Also missing from the chart is Newton's four rushing touchdowns compared to Kaepernick's one. That gives Newton 15 total touchdowns compared to Kaepernick's seven — more than double. The chart also didn't point out that Newton has played in one less game than Kaepernick, which makes the numbers extremely skewed since it's just comparing the cumulative season stats.

I realize it's a bit hypocritical to tell you not to pay attention to stats, and then defend myself with stats, but you have to look at the right numbers. You can't just compare total season stats and say two quarterbacks are identical just because their quarterback ratings kind of look the same.

Newton is being considered as an MVP candidate because he's the quarterback of an undefeated team and has done enough to warrant being in the discussion. No one is saying he's the leading candidate, but you can't dismiss his impact for Carolina.

Did Kaepernick deserve to be benched? That's another discussion. But saying he's played the same as Newton this year is just lazy.

There isn't one. Cam is mediocre. His talent around him isn't near as bad as people make it out to bed. He is around 13-15th in the league quarterback rankings imo. Luke and Josh Norman are definitely 100% more valuable to the panthers success than Cam. You could make an argument for Cam at 3 but since he only completes 54% of his passes I'd possible put Stewart at 3rd. The run game is very important to a team that can't pass the ball consistently and he is having his best year that I can remember giving them a little over 4 ypc. Obviously Olsen is a great tight end but I have a hard time saying any tight end is more valuable to his team than the QB. So yeah, Cam is 3rd most valuable to the Panthers 7-0 start, AT BEST, and people want to name him an NFL MVP candidate lol.

Hyperbole brah. Obviously Cam is better but he is not even fricking close to being the league MVP.
