It seems to be the next step in the evolving College Football Postseason.

Just imagine 7 games between the top 8 teams in college football in historic bowl venues.

Alabama vs OU in the Sugar Bowl

Ohio State vs Washington in the Rose Bowl

Louisville vs Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl

Michigan vs Clemson in the Cotton Bowl

I would sit in front of my TV for days

Unfortunately, yes.

I love the 4-team playoff though. How fricking dramatic is all this?

The Iron Bowl is a meaningless game. Adding more playoff spots just makes more late games meaningless. Not sure that's good for college football.

But what about the #9 amd #10 teams? I'm sure they have a case of being top 8

I'm fine if they go top 6 teams.

5 conference champions +1 at-large bid.

Top 2 ranked teams get a bye.

i was an 8 team guy, but as many have said, it waters it down, and makes games like yesterday mean little.

with 8 teams, all the teams who lost would still be in. with 4, now they are all fighting for their lives

Yes, but I would be against it. The more teams you add, the more you dilute the importance of the regular season.

#9 and #10 teams wont have much of an argument becasue in most years #7 and #8 wont deserve to be there either and will most likely get blown out by #1 and #2. I think the perfect number is 6, but adding 2 more teams will be a saftey net.

That and the players are professionals. Asking them to play even more games is crazy, unless you cut the regular season to 10 games

conference champions shouldn't have an automatic entry into the playoff. Remember K state in 2003 winning the B12?

16 team.

4 team isn't a playoff....why does nobody get this?

It's a glorified BCS selection.

"Oh wow, we added two teams, big deal."

It's always still...the MNC.

They would still have plenty to fight for, given that the higher you are ranked, the lower ranked your opponent is ranked in the playoffs. Therefore an easier path in the playoff. For example, #1 would play #8 and #2 would play #7

No, teams with 4 losses should never make it to a college football playoff. 8 is the MAX

What if 8 was in same conference as 1? You want a rematch?

I think 4 is fine and I also think you have to qualify by winning a conference

I honestly believe the committee would rank the teams in a certain order to prevent rematches in the first round. Teams would have to win at least one playoff game to earn a rematch

You could argue the playoffs are not even necessary this year. Alabama is clearly the best team in the country

agree 100%

thats the main issue with designing a postseason for college football. Some years the best team is obvious. Other years it may be between 3 teams or 2 teams, or 6 teams!

In a perfect world the size of the college football playoff would change every year, depending on how many teams are deserving of a playoff spot
